Quick tyre question

Because im giving him realistic advice that he might just listen to, he might just go and buy a new set of 50 quid a corner tyres.
You can bang on all day about your insurance going up and risk to other road users and 130 quid a corner contis, do you really think he gives a ****?

So am i.

Honestly mate, listen to the people in this thread. You can't be buying second hand crappy tyres for a 182. Just won't work.

Great then that me and you on the same side.

Indeed. I think it would be stupid to pay £100+ a corner on his car if he is on a fairly tight budget but i think he should at least get some half decent new midrange tyres (hancook,Falken e.t.c)

This forum has got a tyre fixation, rightly or wrongly but it has. The best you can hope is he buys a cheap set of half decent tyres.

Sure but why shouldn't it? Tyres are a major purchase as they are both expensive and a critical component... granted i would guess upwards of 50% of drivers don't give them a second thought as long as they are legal, these are probably the same people who either end up paying over the odds for cheap tyres, or end up buying very expensive rubber that are surplus to requirements.

There is a lot of consumer choice when it comes to tyres, so it's naturally a talked about subject.

No not at all but its seemingly too late for that!

Sorry i must have misunderstood what you were saying, thats what i think his best bet is.

But iv seen this a million times and in the end its good bye and good luck with tyres.

People will read a million reviews and ask a thousand questions about a stereo, then skimp on tyres, im just past caring you got to give your one line of advice then wave them good bye.

Absolutely and i'l sit here all day talking about it.

But when someone starts a thread intending to buy 4 used tyres for 100 quid you know he aint suddenly spending 500 quid on a set so whats the point.

Best he buys the best 4 tyres on special offer at his preferred quick fit and be done with it.

wow....did anyone bother reading what I put?

Here's the quote just in case.

I didn't ask because I want to save money, I asked because I genuinely haven't got a clue. I asked because I was hoping all your experience could guide me in the right direction.

If I was going to have budget tyres fitted on a 182 after all of you guys saying don't, then I agree, the answer is yes, I don't deserve the car. But now I know better, I'm not going to do that.

I changed all 4 tyres recently, the fronts needed changing, but the rears were mis-matched pirellis, a p6000 and a p7. Both had a good 4mm (guestimate) on them. I guess that's where part warns come from. Another personal example is when one of my eagle f1's developed a bulge in the wall, so I ditched the lot as I had lost all confidence in them. I guess tyre places just collect all the random cast offs and sell them on.

Gustov you need to check out cliosport.net there are a lot of people with extensive experience with your particular model.

They will be able to to tell you the the best tyre for your budget/ driving style.

SportContacts are quite old aren't they? I had sports contact 2 on my Fiesta and they were 5 years old. That's if the seller has listed them properly?

They don't look new?

And if they were new they'd come with 8mm tread, not 7mm.

And you've got to wait over 5 days for the auction to be up, i thought you needed tyres ASAP?

Seriously, just buy some tyres from camskill/black circles/event and have done with it! I can't help but think that you don't have the funds at all and that's why you're trying to take the ***** way out.

Contisport Contact 2's are a bit old now yeah - 5 years sounds about right. They look like the 2's rather than the CS3's. Who knows, they could even be the ContiSport Contact 1's!
