R.I.P Abit

They really went down in my estimation with the IC7-G expensive tat, but my BE6 II @133 FSB running 24/7 is about to out live the brand.

This is really sad news. With the exception of a breif and regretful foray to Gigabyte with the DS3 and my Socket 939 DFI Lanparty, every single board I've bought since becoming interested in performance hardware has been an Abit. You name it, I've had it - KT7, KT7A, KX7-333, NF7-S, and now two IP35 Pro's. I've never experienced anything but rock solid performance and stability with them which is why they were always my choice :(

Quite sad really, they've done well out of the enthusiast market.

I've got a second hand IP-35 Pro XE on the way now, which will be my first and last Abit board.

I'm the same [TW]Fox, I think I've had mobos from the original KT7, KX7, NF7 same as yourself, I once strayed from the flock and bought an Epox 8RDA+ iirc and hated that motherboard, after that I came back to the flock with an NF7 and eventually an IP35 Pro.

Sad news indeed.

I've had Asus, DFI, Gigabyte, MSI etc. but I always came back to abit & they never let me down.

A sad end.

You hear that Mr Anderson, it is the sound of inevitability.....

Damned shame, I've got two Abit NF7-S v2's waiting to be whipped into life again (just need some RAM), an AW9D-MAX and an AB9 in use right now.

Bad times. I really liked Abit motherboards.

Looks like my IP35-Pro will stop getting BIOS updates as well.

The only non Abit board I had for my main rig was a DFI Lanparty for my Opty 165 ... that's going back to my Celeron 300A days and I've had a few since :p

Frends have got the NF7 and IP35 Pro based on my experiences ... so reputationally who do I go with next time round I wonder?

Ahh man this is such a shame! Always been a big fan of Abit, there boards have always been high quality and extremely stable with me. First independant motherboard I got was a KT7A, then moved on to an AT7 Max, then Max II, then NF7-S. Currently have an IP35-Pro.

The NF7-S 2.0 was the best motherboard Ive ever owned.

Pity USI didn't put Abit & all it's patent's up for sale & another non-rival company bought it like IBM or some company who can drive Abit forward, USI didn't do enough to improve Abit.

DFI for example I doubt they could keep going but if it wasn't for their Oem side of the business, I read they do a lot of deals for Casino component builds as example.

I for one will miss Abit, their UK RMA process was excellent usually taking 3 working days.
