R.I.P Abit

That's a shame, Abit generally made good boards :(

The NF7 I won back in about 2001-2 has just been retired (well it's likely to be sold to a friend of my BIL's) after years of heavy use, including the last 2-3 as my nephews machine.

I've still got a couple of KT7 boards in use here for testing/playing with (my nephew borrowed one to learn how to build/strip computers with).

Unfortunately for the last couple of years at least it looks like Abit lost their edge - I know my last two motherboards were Asus because of the better features for the price :(

I used to always buy Abit boards for a few years:

BE6-II (Slot 1) - 2000
BL7-RAID (478) - 2001
IT7-MAX2V2.0 (478) - 2002
IC7-G (478) - 2003

Some great boards around that time, along with the NF7-S which I never had, but everyone was always raving about it.

Haven't wanted an Abit board for years now, but still a shame to see them go.

I'm still using that IT7-MAX2 board as well !!!

R.I.P althrogh the company is still going but they won't be building mobos anymore =( I was going to buy one but my ROG caught my eye. oh well still a shame through some of thier boared was nice :P

i have been given an abit ip 35 pro xe and would like to run it with an e 8400 i noticed some of you have that set up , can anyone advise what would be a good cooler and stable ram to overclock :)

I'm still running an NF7 v2.0 until my ASUS P5Q SE iP45 arrives on Friday. It's been clocked for the last 4 years.

Choccy...

Ah sad news.
Abit will always have a special place in my heart as almost 10 years ago as a skint student faced with 3 years of an animation degree I purchased an ABIT BP6 and 2x 366 celerons for next to nothing.
Didnt fall over once and ran overclocked for 3 years at about 450MHz.
Best board I owned!

Shame
All my boards have been Abit mainly as i have never had any problems with them ,still if my ip35pro runs till the next upgrade time no complaints and will see whats the board of choice then
Robert

as i stated earlier iv been given a fairly new one and am using an e8400 with it along with 2gb of ocz reaper 8500 and an ati 4850 , could i get a good overclock with that ,also cooling it with a thermoright ultra .:)

I've literally always bought Abit boards, including the IP35 Pro that's powering the machine I'm posting from right now. Every one has been nothing but top notch. I honestly had no idea they were in trouble.
