8GB Sapphire R9 290X Vapor-X Variant Priced in Europe

The 8 GB variant of Sapphire's Radeon R9 290X Vapor-X graphics card, which made headlines last month, reached European shores, with leading retailers taking orders. Designed for those attempting dual- or triple-display setups using Ultra HD monitors, the card features 8 GB of memory across the GPU's 512-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, double that of the standard memory amount. It also features a factory overclock, of 1060 MHz core, and 5.60 GHz memory. The card looks otherwise identical to Sapphire's R9 290X Vapor-X series graphics cards. For those on the Isles, the card is stocked up at OCUK for £599.99 (incl. VAT), and for those on the old continent, Caseking.de has it priced at 729.90€ (incl. taxes).

Has anyone found any larger images of this card without the packaging that I can use elsewhere in the thread. I am looking for a pic that is about 1280 pixels or more wide and of good quality.:)

EK has a block on the way for the 295x. Surprising? No...

...not until you see its only a single slot block card!

Shame the card is so insanely expensive, i could imagine an insane amount of hashing fitted onto a single extended ATX motherboard!

Newbie warning......:D

Hi to all,

I've joined the red side and got myself a reference 290x (Gigabyte) and watercooled it. I've noticed Kaap and others monitoring voltage with a DMM and I was wondering where the voltage monitoring points were located so I can connect said DMM?

I know I can use GPU-z but from reading this thread ppl seem to be using DMMs quite regular and I was puzzled as to where the connections were on the card.

Thanx

Hey guys,

I have just started experiencing some screen tearing type issues with my pc even though VSync is on. It's a bit of a concern and I just wanted to get you to check this is right for me if you don't mind.

I got this report off Sapphire TRIXX for the two 290X's - Does it look ok to you guys?
I hadn't looked at this previously so I just wanted to clarify that each card is doing what it should. There's no overclocking being done at all as there's no need because it runs all the games I want. They are two Sapphire cards BTW.

This is running on a Gigabyte Z87X OC.

Thanks for looking.

Yeah Matt, that's what got me worried. It's happening in The Witcher 2, Bound By Flame, Crysis and theHunter so far. These are the games I've checked.

Vsync works in Crysis as im playing it at the moment. You could try forcing it through CCC, though i just use the ingame option and it works fine. This is on 290 crossfire 14.4 WHQL.

Yeah stock which is what worries me, if I was overclocking then I'd expect some issues to pop up. I just tried the witcher 2 again and it seems to be getting worse now.

Again the game ran ok for 30-50 seconds and then the tearing kicked in. Almost like the cards are struggling and overheating but they are only getting to around 47-50 degrees.

Hey Petey, yeah the FPS counter was steady at 60 so the VSync was working. I am hoping it is fixed now, I've reinstalled the driver like Matt suggested and tested it for a little while, not long enough to be fully convinced yet, but I'm about to do some stress testing so I'll report back later, so far so good though.
