Racing Simulators

Yeah, week 13 is quite often a bit 'meh', I basically treat it as a week off for the most part (definitely not taking part in any official series)

Saying that, once the update is out this evening two new fun series will be added:

Skippy at Okayama (new track + updated skippy model \o/)

Corvette and Riley DP at Sebring Night (note you'd need both cars, looks rather impressive though :))

But I agree, roll on season 2 :p

SS, the update announcements are posted on the forums btw, not much use now but worth checking around week 13 at the very least. There's also a decently active Club England section to read :)

Okayama is now available though :) 19 cars at Lime Rock is just carnage most of the time, so i will be spending time this week getting to know the new track.

Yeah, just turned my first laps around Okayama, not bad, some evil cambers on some of the corners, could be fun to race I think due to come hard braking zones and a wide track...

Later I'll try some Sebring Night goodness :p

And then try it in the skippy to see how good my night vision is :p

Just tried the night stuffs, it's dark, shocking, makes it really quite hard so I now have a new appreciation of what the endurance racers must go through :p

Also a touch too dark for the skippy with no lights, shame...

This seems the right place to post this, although it seems that everyone is raving about iRacing thingy.

I have just come off a mass session of Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed. I have found a car that I absolutely love, and believe it or not its a category D car!

The Toyota Corolla modded to its max (I don't really like Works, so I didn't activate that) It took my previous times and ripped them to shreds.

Here's a video of the 3 laps (last one was 1:17:473).

I would really recommend this car to anyone new to the game!

Need more ride height, surely? Lots of dragging on the floor. :)

The Lotus 79 makes most if its downforce by Ground Effect, so it's well worth setting it up to run as close to the ground as possible to make the most grip. You lose around 5 - 10mph in a straight line, but the extra grip you get in the corners is more than worth it.

Yes its the way the car works its normal Dj Jester.

Ive just run some laps at Mosport in the Lotus and the bumps are now fixed but id say my times are now 3 or 4 tenths slower than they were there last week but its a pleasure to drive the track now.

Are any of you guys finding your times are now slower in the cars you drive ? i assume its because of the new track surface but my Lotus seems to have a little less grip than before but as its fixed the bumps im all for it.

Purchased one month of iRacing earlier (with two free months, of course.) Started practicing around Lime Rock Park in an MX-5 and managed to get down to 1:01.2 - I think I can shave the time I need to off during sector one as I'm godly slow through the first couple of turns.

It's good fun though! Too scared to race with others yet though :p

After just getting my wheel I have been looking at iRacing, wow it is quite pricey :o

It is pricey but if your mad about sim racing it offers the best experience for online competitions without having to join clans and enter into time restrictive leagues.

on a rant note! Whats with UPS not giving me the choice of which day I can my stuff delivered? My clubsport peddles came today but surprise surprise I was at work :(

Yeah, I've lost around .3 - .4 around Michigan in the Indycar, although I've gained a tenth back now from a couple of setup changes. What is really amazing though is that the high line now works on ovals. I was able to stay beside the leader while on the outside line, which was impossible before. Bristol and a few other tracks now have a legit high line aswell, which is great.

ok so I got the deal for 2 months free and wow it is quite hard after coming from unleashed!

Anyone got any tips for setup on the g27?

You mean wheel setup? If so most Aliens (the best racers) that use logitechs have roughly the same setup:

In the wheel software you want, 100% on force feedback strength, Gregor Huttu always said 101% felt better with his DFGT, this is what I have set.

900 degrees rotation and EVERYTHING else on 0.

In the sim, depending on car set the force feedback between 2 and 10. Also make sure your wheel lock to lock matches the car setting.

Running the MX-5 round Summit Point in practice. Best is in the 1:25's but i'm consistently in the 26's and 27's. Think tweaking the setup would help me knock off some time? Totally clueless in that department, a lot to learn I guess.

I use a g25 wheel my settings for that are

overall effects 107%

spring 0%

damper 0%

enabled centre spring strengh 40%

degrees of rotation 900

most guys use same kind of settings so start from there see how you get on.
