Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Yeah, all he's done is start a load of rumours about how hot it runs and how bad the cooler is. I hope AMD crucify him and take him off their list. The results are meaningless now we don't know if it's throttling due to heat or anything else.

He's been pretty clear with replacing the cooler - also the vast majority of people who'll be interested and read these kind of leaks are nerds like ourselves who'll read forums / be aware of that.

What he has done is show an incredible card. The real interesting part will be what will be shown at E3, i suspect they'll be reviews coming out this week. If the 480 8GB is performing like that at stock (ignoring temps), god knows what it'll do OC'd and what kind of factory overclocked cards will come out at compared to the likes of the Fury X and 980Ti.

Certainly makes me excited for the 490.

Already been a few rumours, with hints dropped from sites themselves that 480 reviews may be "soon". Some speculation that the NDA at end of the month may apply to the 490.

Awesome if true. This would be great for every PC gamer, to have so much choice between both AMD's and nVidia's new cards.

I know that I definitely want to see what the 490 pricing is before making a decision between 480 and 490.

Obviously all has to be treated with a whole heap of speculation at the moment...

But if everything remains true, i reckon 480 8GB will be £220-£230 and 490 £270-£280.

I'm in a similar position. I'm on a 290x currently, i'd like to upgrade but waiting to see what the 490 does.

If the 490 does bite at the heals of the 1070, it'll make Nvidia re-think their pricing (Happens every time, Nvidia drop in response). They also won't be able to drop the price of the 1070 without also dropping the 1080, it would leave to much of a gap. Gives more choice for us lot. Also interested to see the DX12 performance on the new cards.

.

Look at how many people have made snarky comments about the high temps in this thread and have had to be told about the cooler removal. That'll be happening all over, because most people won't bother to read the full click-bait article.

The guy has done AMD a big disservice for his own click-bait, and I hope AMD punish him for it.

Me too. As soon as I knew it was being monikered as the 480 rather than the 490, my hopes went up - price pending.

I don't buy the whole.replacing cooler to avoid breaking NDA aroey. Doesn't make a shred of sense. If he is leaking performance numbers he is breaking the NDA, or he isn't under NDA and so shouldn't give a damn about the cooler. In fact, changing the cooler and still releasing performance figures is only making things far worse for himself legally.

if these leaks are accurate then nvidia should be worried,
seems like AMD have doubled the performance / price within 1 year

will these things really be under £200 and have Fury level of performance ?
what is the catch ?

If true 1070 price will have to drop substantially in not too distant future

Damage patrol inda thread again guys woo woo! Dont forget hes all about facts and figures so your probably wrong and d.p. Is right.

Well id like to beleive that video is realy but im not getting hopes up until I see some more info from AMD but that video does look convincing!!
