Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

What a load of rubbish. You do know that if the leave win it will take another two years before we fully leave.

But it's a sad day when a person is more worried and a graphic card then their country :(

It's more than sad; it's totally unfathomable that saving a few quid on a GPU takes precedence over the governance of the country.

Voting leave is a vote for democracy. ;)

Didn't stop our own government implementing the covert Tempora mass surveillance though?? Think we should be more worried about our own lot than somebody outside our country. It is always easier to blame somebody outside since they are far away, and all this running about from both sides is just deflecting people's attention from more important things which will not change, however the vote goes.

Anyway back to Polaris.

Come on Guys, I am passionate about politics but this isn't the place.

Hmmmm, slightly disappointed with that score in truth. Maybe there is some big jump with overclocking.

If those turn out to be true, i'd be equally disappointed.

In order for the 480 to truly make some waves, been seen as incredible performance for the price.. It needs to sit somewhere between the Nano and Fury X in Ultra.

take these with a grain of salt as *this is what he's seen* and supposed ave.

A lot of the lower scores could be due to early bios; low balling etc......plus

stuff we've seen so far DX 11 performance should be 980+ level DX12 performance will be higher from what we've seen we should see a lot more today; something between nano and fury or at least nano level.

WhyCry is pretty good with these things and they do look authentic. I would like to see some OC headroom though and see what is what there.

of course things are not perfect, but we can remove them unlike the people in the EU and have full self governance. And the ones who gain the most from the EU are the large multinationals who are praising the EU and wanted the EU Trading blocks creation as it benefits them the most. SME's who make up the majority of businesses in any country are still hit with EU bureaucracy to the point where some industries have been destroyed. Even freedom of movement benefits the Large multinationals the most since it allows them to hire cheaper foreign labour.

The funny thing is how they talk about the British car industry, the majority of the car manufacturers are not British to begin with. so it's not even our own industry.

Please. Stop. Just Stop.... I don't think anyone wants 10 pages of EU referendum conversion on the Polaris thread.

Below is the EU ref thread, go wild;

Have to agree, bit underwhelmed now. Seems this card may have been a tad over hyped.

BTW what is the actual core clock speed. It's again quoted here as 1266, but yesterday it was quoted as from 1080.

Really? he posted stuff recently that contradicts these scores... so which is it Greg? hes reliable but wrong in this instance? or these scores are made up? or he lied with the earlier leaks he posted?

If you remember, the first 480 leaks we saw were from Videocardz and Whycry himself....

This all looks a bit to convenient for me tbh...

Im holding off now making any assumptions til we see actual real facts and figures, this cards gone from being the next coming of christ to the plague of the modern century, literally overnight.

A day or two ago it was bordering on 1070 performance!! wooo yay! and now its less than a 980 in performance....

Too many dodgey leaks with no real substance, its all just speculation, we will know the truth once the official reviews start pouring in, i'd say take ANYTHING you see between now and then with a huge dose of salt.

LOL i never said that and I don't think anybody else did either.

It was just pointing out that what may appear to be a £230 card today might be a £250 to £275 by launch date.

What if Brexit was AMD's plan all along to sell Polaris for much higher prices in the UK?

Nah joking :p.

Seeing as the 480/470/460 is the full Polaris lineup, I guess the 490 will be Vega based?

From all accounts, AMD are using something similar to NVidia with the boost thingy. It might be boosting to 1266Mhz or that might be the resting clocks. Unless I was dreaming of course but I am 95% sure I read that AMD were using boost clocks this time.

Not sure what you are digging at? I did say he is pretty good and these look authentic but feel free to ignore them. I certainly won't be basing anything on those till I see something from reviewers but merely basing my opinion on what I am reading.
