Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

£250-£260 for a decent cooler like the Tri-X and possibly cheaper for a PCS+. Think it was said somewhere that the base model should be around £220. It's hard to say with British pricing these days.

Just like it should, it's the most fun part isn't it? :D

I swear i get more enjoyment out of the rampant speculation and then research / trawling through reviews and benches when selecting my purchase than i do when i actually receive it, i reckon the same would remain true for most people on here.

Its great

i just keep stuffing down the popcorn :)

lol ok might not be E3 - see I knew I saw something :D and looks like there are boost clocks.....I really do need to sleep at some point :D *take with usual salt intake*

Whats everyone's final UK price predictions, I say £300+ for 8GB with a decent cooler.

Being a mainstream product this should hopefully mean AMD won't have yield issues and will be able to meat demand so hopefully they retailers will keep to the MSRP £175/$199 for the RX480 + £40/£50 for a 8Gb model.

that's the word coming from E3 - we should have more information on new cards from AMD - unless I read twitter wrong - its already happened....I'm running on little sleep right now :D

I believe AMD had done everything yesterday that is to do with the new cards. I thought I might have missed something.

So going from Viceocardz possible bench and info, it looks like the 480 could be 10% faster than a 390X, which isn't too shabby at the price point.

4GB Model is MSRP at $199 + 20% import taxes, with poor exchange rates, I can see the UK pricing at around £220-230 for Ref design, + £40-50 for 8GB then some for a decent cooler. I reckon more in area of £300 for 8GB + decent cooler.

that could just be with immature drivers too :) honestly I'll most likely snag a 480 to replace my 290......

faster card with lower power.....what's not to like

that's a good deal cheaper than the 1070, it'll be interesting to see what they do in Crossfire, could really muck with the 1080's currently ludicrous pricing

well if the one price thats been posted by a uk retailer is spot on, a pair of 8 gig cards will rush you £506 (£253 each). so depending on how well they work in crossfire and in games other than ashes it could force down the 170/1080 prices a little. but until reviewers start testing this stuff who knows.

Some BIG unknowns here, namely what the 480X will be priced at, and how x2 of those in XFire will stack up against a 1080... and on top of that what the driver support will be for XFire come that point. So much up in the air at the moment, and I don't think it's benefiting AMD keeping quiet about this upper end performance, as they could potentially steal a lot of those gamers furious at the 1070/1080 pricing, but who feel they have no real choice if they want performance at that level. I understand AMD wanting to prioritise capturing that lower end market, but I think they should look to cast that net a bit wider if they have something up their sleeves... unless they don't.

Deciding whether I'm underwhelmed or impressed that this card will come in at ~230-250 and give 980 390x performance.

Seen as you could get things like the 390x Gaming X for under £300 over 6 months ago it is a little underwhelming but should still be good for people wanting to upgrade from cards slower than the 970/290/390.

That's mostly why I'm trying to decide how I feel about it. Hoped it would be better but a significant upgrade on a gtx 760.

480X or 490, 490X, whatever it is they have tucked away ready in line after the 480. We don't know much.

Well we sort of do. Lisa Su said herself that the entire Polaris line up was three cards - 480,470 and 460 yesterday.

This could change in the future but expecting anything faster than the 480 on Polaris any time soon is seriously wishful thinking after last night.
