This is what Jen had to say about the 480.

Well, that's how the original discussion started.
And I would argue that saying that people who dont buy from principle are 'weak customers' would very much be trying to guilt people. lol I know you've taken that comment back, but still, it's more or less the gist of the sentiment - if you dont choose to buy AMD, then you're hurting the industry. That's pretty much the definition of guilt tripping people.
Think of it kind of like religion - if you have your own beliefs, great, but dont try and press them on others. Other people aren't 'wrong' or 'weak', they simply have different priorities and preferences than you do. Dont think that people who buy Nvidia dont 'see the big picture', either. I'm sure many do, but aren't exactly going to compromise their own needs to help AMD's cause, which shouldn't be their burden. If you'd like to support AMD then that's cool, I respect that. But it shouldn't be demanded of consumers.
I wonder. If 980ti somehow gets to around 250-300 price range even 2nd hand market if new isnt able to. What reason i wonder should i as an example go for a 480 when a 980ti would be more attractive to me if i wanted to stay with nvidia. As a 480 a medium quality one would probably be about 250 at least yeah? As i wouldnt touch the blower cheapest ones but also wouldnt touch the highest end ones as pennies are important and no need to go to extremes for a cooler really. Vram isnt a issue say as i think 6gb would be more than enough from a 980ti so the 480s 8gb is mute point for example to me.
As when all this talk of 480s came out i thought hmm a card thats good at about 970-980 levels for under £200 for 8gb as well. Sounded great. But now the 8gb is probably gona go up to 230 but 250 for a reasonable aftermarket one. So now the fabled 199 dollar card doesnt seem quite as cheap and powerful as it sounded in the presentation i guess is what im wondering.
Oh and another question. Anyone know yet if the 480s would come with dvi as my monitors are vga so i use a vga to dvi adapter still as i never got around to buying a new monitor when my dvi capable monitor died.
Yeah I'm not sure I would be comfortable using an hdmi to dvi connector with my monitor, Maybe amd are too street for me.

I hope this card can deliver excellent price to perf.
Looking at the chiphell's video leak with the 3268 Firestrike Ultra score, that card had a 6+8 pin connector. Cant see why a 100w card needs them connectors so I'm thinking it maybe fake. Hopefully my thinking is wrong.
Custom one is a different story, may able to find one with DVI . I use 2 monitors with DVI but i won't bother myself to use adapter to solve my problem. if i feel like the card won't work out for me, i still got an option to send it back. You'll probably be able to get a custom one with DVI, like the Furys, as im pretty sure the Asus Strix Fury had DVI.
I never said buy AMD either, you can buy Nvidia if you want but when you fall for even the silly and dirty tricks like the founders edition overcharging then that's when it starts to make me sceptical on consumer intellis gence (not general intelligence but just rational and logical approach to mnot getting ripped off). For me I see no reason why someone wouldn't just wait for the AIB versions with better cooling, cheaper price and not let Nvidia overcharge them when they know they can getow the same card cheaper not too long from now. If you really want Nivida then fine, it doesn't make reality disappear or make it necessarily a logical or rational decision though.Well, that's how the original discussion started.

The newer wccftech leak talks about 'beast mode' rx480 that clock far higher than reference 480. Where some AIB 480 will come with 6, 8, 6+6 or 8+6 connectors. With the beast mode versions using 8+6 connectors.
