Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

People with money to spend don't get into that position by being frivolous with it, the £100 over a few months may not be anything to them in real terms but I bet you that every one of them would have that £100 back in a heartbeat.

If anything it's the stupid people who in real terms can't afford, and shouldn't be buying a top end GPU that don't care about how much it cost because it's going on a CC to be paid back on the never never at 20% APR.

I disprove everything you just said.

Well we don't know, as three of the supposed 470 scores were 13k with one random one at 16k. We don't even know if they are 470 scores either!

13k score was with old drivers - new 16k score is supposed new drivers - yep I can easily see score jumping like that with new core as they get a handle on it.....seen it in the past.....

No, one of the 13k scores is with the same driver as the 16k score...

Both done April 12 2016

these benches are pretty much meaningless as we have no idea what the actual chip that is being benchmarked is :p

As far as I can see Wccftech are just guessing they are 470 scores.

Current assumption is that the 470 model is 67DF:C4 - So thats what wccftech have based it on.

The 67DF:C7 is suspected to be the 480 part.

What is odd though is the C4 shows as 8GB RAM, wouldnt have thought the 470 would have an 8GB option.. Then again, why would you have two model numbers different for 480.

As I said earlier, if they are running at 1266Mhz then they are probably RX480. The RX470 has 32CU and the 480 has 36CUs.
So either both cards will perform very similar to each other (within 10), or these benchmarks are RX480 and not 470.

Wouldn't really trust 3dmark to report anything accurately, least of all boost clocks. Could be either one for all we know, but we have official 3dmark firestrike numbers from the Rx 470 that put it on the same level as the 290. So I very much doubt the Rx 480 would perform worse.

Just found this pic and looks legit to me....

:p

Just found this mentioned Polaris range and prices.

http://forums.videocardz.com/topic/1488-first-prices-of-rx-460-rx-470-rx-480/

RX 480 8GB == 249 €
RX 480 4GB == 209 €
RX 470 4GB == 149 €
RX 460 2GB == 79 €

So rumoured 3DMark 13K & 16K scores actually in fact are RX 480 8GB. There is no RX 470 8GB model existed so RX 470 is only available in 4GB model.

makes sense, otherwise the 8Gb 470 would be a similar price to the 4Gb 480 but would be slower.

This fact along with the 1266MHz clock speed pretty much confirms in my eyes these are RX480 scores. this fits alongside the other results AMD have official released including the VR score and AOTS crossfire.
