Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Im lost, I am sure 375 is 47.9% more than 230. So how are you getting 60%+?

Even if it was 50% more it works out to 345, not her 375.

i have no idea what you are talking about, we are not guessing numbers, the 370/379$ is supposed to be the 1070 price, and the 230$ the RX480 price

379-230= 149$ thats the price difference 149/230= 0.647=65% (149 is 65% of 230)
379$ is 65%(149) more than 230$

Unfortunately a lot of people like to brag and Willy wave

a lot of people are morons

a lot of people own Nvidia cards

a lot of people own AMD cards

Quite a few forum members here are atleast 2 of the four above, that my friends is the facts of life
That's why I said it's cool but expect differing opinions and respect the issues and then we'll get along far better as a community :p I'm merely pointing out a lot of the red vs green fighting causes this sort of hostility somewhat is all. Some will like the 'willy waiving' and some won't, some don't like discussions on potential negatives and run for the hills or the insults but it's a community so expect different reactions I guess.

1400+MHz is nothing, only 10% OC from 1266MHz

I think we should expect around 1600MHz (optimistic)

Thing is you are looking at it wrong. The base clock is 1080 and it boosts to 1266.

A boost to 1400+ is quite substantial. Basically compare it to 980ti and its a similar overclock esp if some can hit 1500Mhz and people refer to the 980ti as a massive overclocker.

SO on that basis I would expect every card to be able to hit 1400+ and some to hit 1500.

Enough of this tom foolery and speculation, i want results and hard facts! and i want it NOW Dammit! ;)

Discussion and debate, is fine. Playground insults are neither of those things.
Like I said, fuelled by some of the toxicity in the forums. People need to be more open to discussion and then it'll be a friendlier place. Maybe I'm wrong and I'm not waving the magic wand today so don't expect it to be fixed but I'm just pointing out generals as to what I think caused that sort of hostility based on my experience and hoping we all hold hands moving forward :p As a show of solidarity I back you and anyone elses willy waiving :D Seriously though I was just pointing out to ignore the comments cos as I said, some will bemoan it but there's a division in the community there and most will support it anyway but in a real community you have to expect differing opinions.

Can't wait for this damn NDA to be lifted, I just want benches.

I find it a bit suspect of WCCFtech

  1. First they post 480 benchmarks, claiming they have a reliable source.
  2. Next they promise OC benchmarks for the 480.
  3. 2 days later they have no benchmarks but a lengthy article on how it can hit 1400-1500mhz

It's not that i don't think it can hit that - but it seems to be they're just milking it for all the traffic it's worth.

Keep it on topic please guys.

And play nice.
Where are you guys whenever it gets nasty in the EU referendum debates :(

For me I've said it before anyway, I want a card closer to what Nvidia are offering performance wise but more at AMD prices so I'm waiting for a price drop from Nividia or AMD to release there next ones that equate to the 490 / fury. Don't think either of the current cards interest me but if I was forced I'd opt for 480 at this point, it's good AMD offer cards looking towards value for a change. Hopefully this will translate to the higher end cards too.

You can read that as "we're crippling voltage ranges so people won't blow up their cards". After all a working card vs one with no magic smoke is a better experience. :D

I own a 290x - I really don't care whether i own Nvidia or AMD. Before the 290x i had a 780Ti but somebody offered me a trade plus he added allot of cash on top, was to much of a bargain to pass on.

I buy at the higher end typically. If the 480 turns out as WCCFtech leaks has suggests, plus overclocking to put it within spitting distance of the Fury X i may buy it. It depends how Nvidia reacts with price drops, if the 1070/1080 reduce i'll get a 1080.

One thing is for sure, if the 480 does hit those targets. It's going to be a monster card in terms of sales.

Lol, you are clutching at straws now.

It's like you read my message, did not like what I said, even though I was not the first to say it, probed for something you can use to go on the attack. Lol.

If you feel the term "willing waving" is an insult, then you should consider staying away from this forum, or even better the Internet as it won't be good for your health. Going on and on about that one thing when it is clear if you look at the context it was used in it was not in a derogatory manner suggests maybe a nerve was hit? :p

Many times I have seen people suggest people who can't justify buying a 1080 are just poor. Now that is insulting, yet I never saw you have a problem with that?

Let's just leave it at that and discuss the RX 480 shall we ;)

I can't wait to see some real overclocked benchmarks of the RX 480. If it can do over 1600MHz on water, it will be very close to 1070 on DX12 games.

Even better, imagine what Vega on a much bigger die with HBM 2 will be like. Drool :D

The forum represents the shop also and people buy from the shop and want to join in with the community. I have seen guys buy hardware and post a pic as they are proud of what their hard earned money has paid for (me included in that) and good on them. I am proud of all my hardware that I buy and I work damned hard to pay for it, so if that makes me a willy waver or a moron or a mug (I have been called all 3 and more), then OcUK isn't the community it used to be. If you buy a 480, stick your name on your pic and be proud and don't let a few ruin it for the many. Most of us here are enthusiasts and enjoy the debates but I like to think we all game together regardless of hardware and have fun together.

A shame to see a couple of people insult the many who buy from OcUK and other places and are proud of what they bought. Sorry for the off topic Mods but a bit annoyed reading the last couple of pages.

Sorry but that would be Nvidia not AMD ;) new voltage control will be interesting to see just how far they allow us to go. will their be voltage protections like there is for cpus?

So you should. You work hard to pay for your things, so be proud of buying and using them. It doesn't matter what it is you use but you bought it for a reason and therefore be proud of your purchase. :)
