Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

For the last time: 480 is at 980/390X performance. You keep repeating 970/390 in every one of your posts, but no matter how many times you say this, it's not going to become true.

Seriously now though: can you tell me what you expect of the 1060? What do you think a decent price will be for it? What level of performance will be acceptable to you? Where do you draw the line past which you will call the 1060 "a joke" and NVidia's work "a failure".

Ask yourself these questions... because that's what the 480 is! A 1060 competitor!

I said 'if its' 970/390.... most things point to that, you may have found one that puts it around 980 performance, it does not make your assertion with it an overiding fact.

btw amd never said it was a high end card. this is a mid range one that gonna replace their midrange crd with improve features and better performance x vat. simple

Point taken. We'll find out in less the 48 hours. Until then, you can call my guesstimate an 'educated guess' (at best).

You still haven't answered my question about the 1060 though. I am genuinely interested in your opinion. Please share your thoughts on the below:

That much is true, it all depends on the price of them.

88 degrees there's some wasted power.

The cooler is akin to the intel box cooler, a copper plate bonded to an alu fin stack. No vapour chamber, no heatpipes.

Wait till we see some Twin Frozr or Nitro results.

£ droped again :D
at this rate brexit will change the segmentation of GPUs for british citizen :p
every US import took almost 20% raise compared to last week, at least for upcoming orders, time to clean the 10 series FE before next order.

I'll awnser that, if the 1060 is a 970/390 at 970/390 prices i'll call it overpriced and crap.

Stick that in your favorates/bookmarks and call me out on it.

Gibbo seemed pretty chuffed with how many they are shifting. Not that I'm refuting your claim.
Gibbo's chuffed with how many orders they're receiving, rather than how many they've actually sent. I'm sure he's very far from chuffed with how many cards OcUK are actually receiving to be able to ship out. You only need to look around the forum to see people talking about cancelling their orders here and buying from competitors because a certain model (or indeed any model) happened to come into stock elsewhere. That's money that'd be in OcUK's bank account if supplies weren't so godawful, because OcUK would have plenty of stock of every (or even simply some) models, meaning those orders would be shipped and the money secured.

i have 0 confidence that the 1060 will be remotly as compelling as the 480 or 470.

Maybe not, yet its also not like Nvidia to miss an oportunity to trip AMD up.

With where the 480 is rumoured to be, thats not difficult, its actually pretty easy.

it is not difficult knowing the size of GP104, GP106 will most likely be between 150-180mm², performance wise it will be around 470, add to that the complication of production volume, since they also have gp104 to stock up on, so even the price of the 1060 wont be as competitive, most likely outcome 1060 at 470 perf with 480 price point.
beside from what i see so far, im thinking that Nvidia isn't really pushing on margins, but the cost of producing gp 104 is too high, maybe they pushed the size a bit too early.

US is 5% TAX vs 20% VAT, i think there are import duties ontop of that.

I have just looked at a very well known US Hardware retailor, MSI Gaming R9 390, $280

The same card at OcUK is £250.

Actually there's no universal sales tax in the US. Most states pay nothing on top of price for online goods.
