Yup, my friend had a 7970 for about 3 years until died from the horrible power supply and it was fine running 1080p ultra whereas the 680 slowly loses it's performance and thus no longer on par wit the 7970 though they should be heralding very similair results. With the 480 being released I'll hopefully be able to jump ships but EVGA is holding me back.

I had a 7970 too and at 1080p it was only just now starting to go into the 45/50fps average range in ultra. Best longevity since 8800gtx Imo.

yep had a 7970 XFX DD for ages,great card..put an aftermarket gelid icy cooler on it and was brilliant.

I'm actually more curious to see 460 & 470 performance than 480. Think the 460 could end up taking the crown for Budget CSGO GPU @144hz.

Its funny all this speculation will come down to 20 seconds of skimming through the performance section of the reviews followed by a meh and onto the Vega thread for 6 months.

Not for me. With my budget it's between this and the 1060.

If there really is a magic driver that makes the 480 perform at 980+ levels, and the price is <£220, I probably won't wait for the 1060.

If performance is more of a mixed bag, with some games getting frame rates more along the lines of the 970, then I'll wait for 1060 reviews.

Of course there's no guarantee that the 1060 will be the card for me either, but I really, really don't want to move up a price tier.
