Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Sorry for being sensible but I'll be getting 1/2 of these simply because nvidia is overpriced for not even supporting dx12 properly yet

Well, stick around and let us know how you get on with them. I hope to make some comparisons when they arrive.
What system are you gonna put them together with?

Just another 99 posts from you and you will get free shipping from overclockers!
:D

difference is the 480's offer is permanent, double the memory and half TDP.

I know, it is good but i wouldnt go as far as astonishing. You could have had roughly that performance for around that price a year a go if you kept your ears out for when the 290 series was sold off cheap as chips.

It is about what i expected. I was rather hoping they would have a 980Ti/1070 level card for about £250. That would have been something, but it isnt looking very likely now.

Why when the 1070 is not 250.

so Nvidia can charge 320+ for the 1070 but Amd needs to sell it for 250 don't make me laugh

No thats £350 ^^^^ which isn't bad at all, its good, but its not as good as 390X for £180.

Whilst good, i wouldnt go as far as astonishing. You could have done similar or close if you were savvy and bought a 290X ages ago when they were sold off cheap. :p

It is about where i expected a 390x/980 performing card to be this generation

even you wouldn't buy a 290X at the same price as a 480 if you had that option let alone at £210 vs £180.

I am not saying i would.

I was just pointing out how this level of performance for that money isnt astonishing, as if you were smart about it you could have had that a year a go.

Apparantely not, as the only performance comparison and official confirmed benchmark we have had from AMD themselves is comparing it to a 1080...

Who are you to say what we should and shouldnt discuss/compare?

Well they would show their new card in the best light possible wouldn't they. Who can blame them. They know only enthusiasts would be watching that launch.

I'm not saying discussion shouldn't happen - but Ive read loads of posts arguing about whether the card is £525 or £600+ lol.

So your arguing over my wording?

Gosh.

I think it is, live with it.

Then tell him why it's hilarious? There is no point in your post. If he is wrong tell him why.

All i was saying is that i was hoping AMD might come in with something with that sort of performance for that sort of money, forcing Nvidia to drop their silly prices.

Then i get that ultra silly and defensive response.

There is a little hope of this happening with an X version but i won't be holding my breath. The $300 dollar mark seems a little to high for just extra memory with a decent cooler. It's a wait and see i suppose.

What do you expect almost every one of your posts is negative in this thread.
