50 pounds difference between the 4 gig and 8 gig vs 30 dollars in the states ... thats odd
The 4gb is very good value. It's more or less on the same level as a 970, but has more vram, better price, newer tech.
970's started at £250 for the very cheapest ones, but the nicer 3rd party cooler cards were more like £270-280, with premium ones going up to £300 in some cases. My problem isn't so much today's price but that when the 970 launched it could be had for £235. So essentially all the 480 8gb version is offering over what a 970 did when it launched 2 years ago is an extra 4gb ram, for roughly the same price.
Would i see the benefits of 75hz freesync if i lower the settings, and have the card at 75fps the whole time?

So there's definitely more of a difference than you're saying, but regardless, it's still a good point. The price/performance ratio has not moved on much.
I guess Leave supporters can be slightly to blame...8GB card should only be about £200.
Not sure why the extra 4GB VRAM comes at such a high price??![]()

The reference board are crap. Lower voltage increases performance and actually lowers power usage by 50 Watt.
Shows what a gulf there is between the AMD and Nvidia architectures when the 480 is about on par with the 1070 in power consumption, it's embarrassing.
