Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Yer, I did try that on day 1 of testing as I remembered having to do the same with my 6970 but it made no difference sadly.

That does sound like a good plan. Yer, might well do that.

I watched your review by the way, good job with it. Straight to the point, far too many reviews especially on YT feature endless waffling.

When you get a proper card how about exploring whether 4GB is plenty at 1080p or whether 8GB might be better especially in the longer term? I always opt for as much VRAM as I can per card, but I know many would rather pay less if they can.

I meant turn the power efficiency on in the Radeon Settings control panel not the Windows control panel. The feature is only available to R9 300 series/Fury series cards and newer, so would not have been available on your 6970.

It's strange that when I turn this off I have problems, maybe my card is faulty too.

Well I have to say that this 480 is the worst card I have ever had. No idea if it is drivers or the card or whatever but I have had enough. Just trying to put together a video showing benchmarks in loads of games (was going for 20) but so far I have only managed to get one game out of 4 to run (alien Isolation). I have had "The display driver has stopped responding", I have had lock ups, I have had the game.exe has stopped working.

I thought it might be Mirrilis Action causing the problem, so went with my external capture card and nope, not having it still. What a waste of time and effort!

Silly has it may sound did you install the correct driver?

Scroll down here and make sure you download the driver under 480 64bit

Our German member of staff Der8auer has got a reference card upto 1500MHz core at which point it matches GTX 980. :)

For more information check and like Caseking Facebook page. :)

1500 only matches a 980? Thats rather crap if true as people i think would have liked a 1500 to match a touch over a 980 tho not 980ti levels lol. Hmm is the 980 in question overclocked at all? Is the 1500 stable for 24/7 is it under 60-70 temps when gaming.

(goes to look on fb now)

Hmm power draw from just the gpu seems quite high with that and isnt 24/7 and its under water or something i couldnt quite tell due to google translator not working well on that post on fb. Rather just get a 980, lower watts, good power, popular, will run better than 480 and before anyone says, no i dont care about ashes benchmarks or dx12 as no games with it are out that are any good (yet).
