Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

@ 1550Mhz the 970 is about 15% quicker than a stock 980, i would also question if a 980 can run 1550Mhz 24/7, most good AIB 970's have the same and beefed up 980 PCB's only they use a bit less power so they can get a bit higher, mine for example has the same 8 + 6 Pin WF-OC PCB and cooler as the 980.

As for the 980TI, its about 25% quicker than a stock 980, its probably about 15% short, but the 980TI is a monster clocker too.

So the 480 would actually be faster than a stock 980ti in this game at 1080p anyway.

Then it could be even higher ^^^^

Or a 1060, in this case at least

Thats a GTX 970 @ 1550Mhz.

GTX 970: 1664 Shaders @ 1550Mhz / 7Ghz @ 256Bit
GTX 1060: 1280 Shaders probably running at 1900Mhz / 8Ghz @ 192Bit

The 970 has 30% more Shaders, if the 1060 with 1280 Shaders is running at 1860Mhz this 970 @ 1550Mhz is 10% faster accounting for the difference in the number of Shaders, 1550Mhz + 20% = 1860Mhz.

At about 1550/8Ghz the 970 is a seriously quick card, thats a 33% overclock on something thats already pretty quick.

I would assume the memory on the 970 has been overclocked as well to some degree.

No. :) this is against a 970 @ 1550Mhz, 30% faster, 10 to 15% faster than a stock 980, a stock 980TI is a good 25% faster than a stock 980.

So the RX 480 @ 1350Mhz is about 15% short of a stock 980TI, it would have to clock to at least 1550Mhz to match a stock 980TI, probably more cuz scaling, if those fabled AIB 1.6Ghz RX 480 actually materialise they might just do it in this game and possibly other DX12 games, Hit Man is probably the one game where it may stomp all over the 980TI as the 390X already beats it and at 1.6Ghz the 480 waaaaaay faster.

But, and i say again through fear of the Gibbo, the 980TI overclocks too, like a trooper.

Hi there

A world sneak preview of the Gigabyte G1 RX-480 exclusively from OcUK:

You seen it first at www.overclockers.co.uk mighty forums!! ;)

Why ain't anyone submitting any 480 benchmarks in the benchmark threads so we can get some idea of general performance? I see 2 in Firestrike Extreme but they are both under 970/290p performance levels which is looking a bit meh :/

Hmm. I'm not sure if I'm calculating this wrong or not. I thought that if the 480 at 1350mhz is 30% faster than a card already 15% faster than a stock gtx980, then that makes the 480 45% faster than the stock 980, and thus 15% faster than stock 980ti surely?

Looks like OcUK have the Powercolor Devil 13 RX480 8GB on pre-order for £254.99:

Excellent and also noting it now has 3 year warranty :)

Now just waiting for reviews to see if I get this or the nitro! Not discounting the strix or msi either! Will probably pass on xfx however as Ive also seen hit and miss info on the coolers!

Need to see reviews for temps and clocks!
Must be close to see all these pics now!

Your right...

If the 480 beats the 970 @ 1550Mhz by 30% and that 970 beats the 980 by 15% then yes it beats the stock 980 by 45%, then it probably mullers the stock 980TI by 15%.

Wait... the devil is using a single 6 pin power connector? (according to the text on the overclockers product detail page). NVM: I see they just used the stock text, and the 8 pin is listed below it).

It's most likely a typo.

Edit: The site says 8 pin
