Radeon VII

None of this makes any sense to me.

None at all, how can a Navi be a polaris replacement and replace the vega?
How can a 3070 replace the Vega 56 yet be the same price?

My propheticism would be thus
3060 - vega 64 performance for £300
3070 - 2070 performance for £400
3080 - 2080 performance £500

The radeon 7 will die a death

Vega will be phased out and only remaining stock sold. The same way the 2080 and 1080ti were on sale at the same time with similar performance. We'll see price drops on Vega 56/64 just to clear old stock.

I'm the one that is delusion when you think ADM can magic out a GPU with twice the performance per watt and for one third of the price using an identical fabrication node and nothing but a minor architecture revision when AMD hasn't made significant progress in 3 generations.

yeah sure, just keep smoking whatever you are on.

First of all, I didn't say I think the leaks were 100% accurate, as you could tell if you bothered reading the conversations happening. Second of all, AMD has made progress since Hawaii. First efficiency with Polaris, and now they're working on Navi which is exclusively a gaming micro-arch. Vega on the other hand was compute-focused, and had much better efficiency properly adjusted for voltage. That AMD upped it to be on the safe side means they could easily tweak it for Navi.

Why are you changing the goals poist, you were claiming Vega64+15% performance at 150w, Not so sure now are you?

Didn't change anything, you just don't read context. Like I said, I'll make this easy as opposed to play semantics for 10 pages Kaapstading it. If you believe what you say rather than just BSing me, it's a small wager. If not, so be it.

Vega 7 10% performance over a 3080 for £200 more....?

Because the 3080 will liekly be nearer £500 on release day and radeon 7 stock will be gone.

People will then be praising close to Radeon 7 performance for £200 quid less

EDIT: Looks like you posted what I said above!:D

16G, professional level product, bargain in their eyes at £100-£200 more than a consumer 8G product. :)

Also the very best is always worth way more money, halo, king, always fetching more money than its performance boost.

AMD is not a charity, they won't be half the price because to put it if they can make more margin, they absolutely will, not because they are greedy, but because they need to survive and make good profits to keep developing and keeping researching better products and technology. Look at the slump AMD had for years when they were making loss after loss, RX 290, RX 390, RX 480, RX 580, just the same stuff re-spun and their competitor gaining more and more market share. Profits equal more advancement, better marketing, better drives and most important better products.

AMD have come so far in past 12 months alone compared to five years previous on CPU particular.

Amen to that! I dont understand why people expect AMD to be half the price of Nvidia when at the same performance level.

Not to quibble with you, but it doesn't come with 'professional level' drivers. They already have a pro line for that. Will it do the job? Most likely.

I would like one, but given 700 for what I assume will be a very short run product... I am extremely hesitant.

AMD are marketing as a content card not just a gaming card, so I suspect there will be some level of support or easily done.

People are still dropping £1000 on 1080Ti's with us, crazy I know, so these at £700 or slightly under will fly out, twice the VRAM, similar performance, guaranteed to sell like hot cakes. :)

I can see it now, £300 for a 4GB card in 2019, christ on a bike they are taking the mickey.:p:D;)

It's just the churn. If the VII had been released 6 months ago it would have been a great card IMO. Just getting nerviously close to Navi.. and I can't be the only one thinking that they might be making a bad investment. But to be honest... it will probably only be what... 200 ish wasted if it turns out that way. (Price difference).

Wonder what else was fixed in VII that might make a big difference in gaming.

I am pondering a 64LC anyway... so why not VII lol.

Let’s be honest vega has its quirks and is a nerds dream to play about with. Once you understand the quirks it works like a charm. Now seeing vega 64 regularly beating 1080 that fine wine tech should make the v7 an interesting prospect

I was looking at a babeltech review from september 2017 and even OC'd the 64LC did pretty bad. (No idea on quality of review https://babeltechreviews.com/rx-veg...e-overclocking-showdown-vs-the-gtx-1080-fe/3/ ).

In a LOT of games it faired extremely badly. Has the situation changed significantly since then?

Feel it's kinda important since VII is just an updated Vega.

Of course it has changed. BTR is... okay. They gimp the settings stupidly in AMD CP and can't undervolt to save their life but at least they make an effort & the guy responds to feedback on reddit. They recently did a driver analysis for 19.1.1 but only Vega 56 & RX 590, with V64 LC supposedly coming soon.

Hardware Unboxed has V64 LC results but it's not clear whether they are done with up to date drivers.

Here's some RE2 & AC: Origins results:

Yes performance has improved considerably since then!

Awesome. Thank you :)
