Rafa deserves the chance to overachieve with Liverpool again

"lack of investment" Rafa hasn't exactly not had money to spend, had he built a better squad he wouldn't need to spend a lot of money this season.

Don't agree,

We lost a world class midfielder and right back in the summer and We haven't been able to bed in either replacement due to injuries to both. It was estimated that we had £150 million out injured before the weekends game.

Before we get too carried away the owners agenda is for us to get top 4 this year. We are currently 4 points away with the best part of half a season to sort it out, ......so wheres the panic?

There isn't too much wrong with our fully fit squad as it stands.

If he doesn't get fourth. He'll do the noble thing and resign.

This isnt Spurs, or Arsenal or Villa we are talking about, this is LIVERPOOL and I know its hard to accept, but liverpool were one of the biggest clubs in the world, certainly one of the most successful ........... and Benitez either doesnt understand the significance of the job he has, or lacks the ability to do the job but liverpool should be in around winning the league, FA cup and Champions league each and every year, not one in every 6.

corrected ! Sorry it's hard to accept that things don't always stay the same.

Since when has it been made that it's Liverpool's (or any club for that matter) right to gain CL status? The four places are available to all clubs. Entry doesn't mean failure, just maybe there other better clubs around. It's foolish for any club to always assume entry into CL and even more foolish to build the clubs financial budget round.

My previous comparison with Ferguson was related to the fact that continuity pays off.

You lost that midfielder because Rafa wanted to buy an inferior player in Barry and pushed him out. Johnson isn't world class. I'm still not sure how much Liverpool paid for him, but it was probably still too much :p

Rafa hasn't spent his money well enough imo, 2 cup returns for this much money spent is really poor.

Liverpool might be 4 points off 4th place but that's a big 4 points as it stands imo, Liverpool aren't playing well.

Agreed 100%, and it's something that Hicks & Gillett have indeed done. Which if we don't finish in the top four this season, next season could be even worse.

We couldn't get it to work, you're right. Many people thought it was a great prospect. We sold him back to spurs for £16 million, so not as bad as you first made out..

How is he doing at spurs now?

"best player in the world" according to Motty :p

better than he did for Liverpool but no where near as good as before he left and certainly not worth the 16m re-signing fee. Personally, I don't think there's a place for him at Spurs and i'm surpised he hasn't gone this window. In all, I think it's Spurs that will take the bigger loss on him.

The formation we play would have suited Alonso and Barry, Rafa has explained this many times. Alonso wanted the move, and why not, to play in his home country for Real Madrid must be a real head-turner.

Liverpool might be 4 points off 4th place .... Liverpool aren't playing well.

True,... We have asked for no more beach balls, Gerrard to pull his finger out, Carra to gain back some form, bring back Sami and Babel to stop twittering:D

Couldn't get it to work? Or didn't want to get it to work?

Still £3 million that we don't have wasted.

And why he is doing so bad at Spurs? Is it possibly because old man Redknapp isn't playing him and wants rid, but is holding out for stupid money for him?

In our situation right now, we really could have done with having Keano.

Where would masch fit in to this?
Alonso is a far better player then Barry and Rafa forced Alonso's hand, why stay and play for a manager who doesn't want you?

I don't know how / why Carra gets near the team.

At the moment, can only only be experience and lack of other options.

But its not just him, quite a few think Gerrard's rest is quite welcome ATM.

Baz says they are wrong because they make rafa look bad dont post them again. Only baz knows whats going on at pool and he says rafa hasnt spent anywhere near that much.

I quite clearly know more than you.

When you post a link to back-up an arguement and then totally ignore your own source later because it doensn't back-up your next point, you end up looking an idiot. So rather than sulk about it, come up with something sensible to say.

Even had Rafa directly told Alonso to **** off last summer or had he never been willing to sell Alonso, he's have still ended up at Real.

defensively he's been woeful since day one.
Ignorant comments like this are one of the main reasons nearly all of your posts are ridiculed. You ignore any good in players you don't like (see Song) and post endless rubbish, a lot of it made up, about the bad. I seem to remember you blaming both Carraghers and Ferdinands loss of form on Johnson earlier in the season, pathetic :o

Johnson isn't good at defending though.

He's a defender, he should be half decent at it, it's not like he's had much practice :p

Johnson is fine going forward, he makes things happen.
