For stats, Rooney 49 goals, 25 assists, 20 yellows and circa 6700minutes, 75 full games worth of minutes.
Torres is 51 goals, 10 assists, 10 yellows around 5500 minutes, 64 full games just about.
Personally as a pure finisher Eto'o's years and years at the top isn't beaten by a single great year by Torres or Rooney, he's consistantly had a frankly sickening goals to games ratio that career wise makes Torres and Rooney look like ickle children in comparison.
Couldn't tell you how well Eto'o has been doing for Inter though, far too painfully boring a league to watch week in week out.
I'd take Rooney over Torres though as frankly if he'd been played as the furthest forward striker over the time Torres had been in England, he'd likely have scored quite a few more games.
In terms of minutes/games, Rooney's played 10-11 more full games really, though in terms of minutes and appearances that probably add's up to a good 14-15 more "normal" appearances playing 70+ minutes. Its not like Rooney hasn't gotten quite a few injuries either, very few strikers play every minute of every game.
Having a look around Berbatov has played 7000 minutes over the same time, considering he's WAY down on minutes for this year he's about as ever present as Anelka in terms of injury, whose played 7500 minutes.
Stats wise, across 2.66 seasons Torres hasn't missed quite as much as most people think. Though Torres is almost 2000 minutes down on Anelka, which is a low-average season to some strikers, Rooney's a far more normal number of minutes across the same time and he's only missed about 1/3 of a season across his whole time here.
