Rainbow 6: Siege - Closed Beta

This game was not was I expecting after playing 30 minutes in beta a few months ago .......

I am a huge fan of SWAT4 and the old Rainbow Six games, was hoping they would do something in that vein. But alas no, they've kinda COD-ified it to make it much less tactical than they make it out to be, more akin to Payday in terms of speed.

This was my impression at the time, they may have changed it since my experience but I'll stick to ARMA for being a true tactical shooter while feeling nostalgia for what the original Raindbow Six games had in terms of gameplay.
 
New beta is back! Closed until 24th I think then it's open beta... Anyone back in? They definitely updated it since the last one for sure :)
 
I'm in, are we able to play together?

I'm one of the oldies... the Rainbow 6 Rogue Spear crew. Those were the days.

Edit: Just checked their site "CLOSED BETA FROM 24/09/2015" so it's still in Alpha then... wish people would put the correct terminology on things, gets me excited then it turns out to be wrong! :(

It's in closed Beta Under NDA atm and open Beta starts 24th
 
Just played couple rounds am now really impressed vs the Alpha build.

Must say I wasn't expecting that ignoring some the bugs here and there the player and guns now feel like that have weight too them its defo moved away from the COD-ish feel
 
yea I played a game there now and it was hugely improved from the alpha, although the game froze on round 4 and it is a struggle to get a game going at the moment.
Still, I'm impressed.

but couple people here saying it's open beta from the 24th?

I already activated my closed beta key and got the email a while back:

So how are you guys playing the beta already?!

P.S I'm glad Terrorist Hunt is back from Vegas :D
 
The ones currently able to play are part of the "technical test" which started on the 21st and ends on the 24th.

Basically we're just warming up the servers for the rest of you :D.

I'm pretty sure there is no "open" beta yet. Well anymore open than signing up to try it.
 
Has anyone in the technical test actually got into a game yet?

I've just spent 30 minutes in lobbies waiting for more players.
 
Played several games last night with a few friends, the game play is very tense and enjoyable

The searching for players and host migration is a pain, along with the time between rounds of 30 seconds being way too long

Few bugs I've noticed, with the main one being, when you start as an attacker, my robot would occasionally fall through the map into the abyss,
