Rant: About noobs using on board SLR Flash

I do agree that onboard flash is definitely not win.

Ad edit the swear word out, the post will have been RTM'd a few times by now.

Oh the green-eyed monster! I'm secretly saving for a D3 just to take the wind out of your sails when you buy a D2o.

'o' stands for obsolete dontcha know :p

Why you getting a D3 if you can't even use a D200? You hoping the camera will do the work for you? You'd be better off with a point and shoot on auto Tom. :p

Im still not entirely settledon the D2X/D2Xs you know. Im now starting to lean towards a D300+Grip. I think im going to need to try both setups out to see which feels better and by how much.

On-board flash is fine, within its own limits of course. What does get me is the numpties you see at concerts or shows, merrily taking flash pictures of things 50 yards away, now that's dim (pun intended :) )

Flashes at football matches are funnier, because not only are you hundreds of metres away but there are floodlights.

I'm glad my message is getting across to some people and its not just me who gets annoyed or embaressed who uses the pop up flash for day light situations and etc..... why is all i can ask. You might have just hired a amature photographier who doesn't uses the fill in flash for those shots.

Also another thing, it's just the light that people like to get the attention. I mean in my graduation not long ago, a bloke sitting at the top of the balcony with his DV camera had a bloody single LED light and it was shining on everone below. Who he was shining on i dont know but it couldn't have gotten much further than the person sitting next to them!

But I like mocking King4aDay for not being able to use his D200 properly. :(

I have a D200, and K4aD is better than me!! :p

As has been said, if people want to take photos with a nice camera, let them. If people want to use onboard flash, let them.

If you want to try and make yourself look pr0 by calling people noobs, that's also your choice

I thought it was common knowledge the holocaust was down to the Nazi's frowning upon the Jews preponderance to use camera based image stabilisation rather than in-lens based vibration reduction. I mean, the noobs, tsk I don't know, *shakes head*

I'm no expert by any means! I have used the onboard flash and it has worked really well. At the same time i have used the flash and i shuddered at the exposure i got.

Calling someone noob is hardly fair because they are experimneting with their SLR. I am the same now i make loads of mistakes and i have people come up to me and give me advice. I dont expect them to get angry and "hit me in the face"

It ****heads like you that **** on other peoples parades!

I dont have a problem using the onboard flash outdoors. Indoors, I switch to an external flash. It gives me more options when the thing can swivel. Thats not to say I use it correctly all the time though. I draw the line at putting bulbous lampshade sized diffusers on the thing though!

is this guy joking or what???? we love photography here so please dont clutter our forum with this rubbish.

seriously tho OP, if something so trivial annoys you so much, you really need to get a life, especially when it seems you dont know what your talking about yourself. Also, you are moaning about people 'attention seeking' when using the onboard flash, yet you make posts like you have, go figure..

Ok guys, lets not stear towards personal insults. I think the point has been made that onboard flashes can used effectively if used with a bit of knowledge and skill.

Personally, the only thing that matters to me is the result, whether someone used the on board flash, or a flash gun, or a floodlight.

A good picture is a good picture, regardless of what kit was used to capture it.
