I'll be looking to get one right away. RasPi-B + NAS, and I can say goodbye to my power-hogging e8400 XBMC/SAB/Subsonic box.

My only issue at the moment is audio output - my XBMC box has a X-Fi soundcard to output 8ch surround - not too sure how I'm going to set this up, might have to grab new speakers or an amp that grabs output from HDMI instead.

Anyone else having trouble accessing the forum or is it just me? I get a 'Error establishing data connection'. Surely its not overloaded already. I guess everyone is anticipating the R-Pi release today and talking about it on the forum.

They are not being released today.
Manufacturing was due to be completed today, but they still need to be air-freighted to the UK, and pass through customs. Towards the end of the month is the expected release date.

It's available for pre-order. First come first serve basis. And only one per person(for now). I can't wait to get one of these. ! :) Its a great project by some teacher or something.

Will make a proper Media Center with this. It's so tiny. It's amazing. I think it will replace a lot of bulky systems used in schools etc, and also used in many house holds in 3rd World Countries. Although it's linux, I think a lot of people will be using it :)

i have a feeling this thread will turn out like the keyring dvr one, people will rush to buy one then end up hardly ever using it.

I think it depends on the useability. We've yet to see how responsive it is in a real OS. GPU video accelleration is all well and good but if it runs apps like a dog then its likely to be used for novelty value.

*sigh* it's not available for pre-order and it *won't* be available for pre-order - they've stated this more times than I can remember.

Thats what I thought

Looks like it's 6am on Wednesday...

Twitter: "Something big is happening at 0600h GMT on Wednesday 29 February 2012. Visit http://www.raspberrypi.org then to find out what's going on."

Shame there's more people on just the mailing list alone that there is initial units available.

Well, as I mentioned many pages ago, I can't wait to play the bottom feeder and snap up all the unwanted ones on ebay for £10 in a few months :-)

In the meantime, I can have fun with my $23 linux router boards :> TP-Link 703N (not sure I can post links here)
