What's happening with shipment of these? Signed up with RS on the first day, and haven't received an email saying that I can buy one yet. Boo :(

Anyone done anything with the GPIO pins? What is the driver stack like to work with?

I haven't been on the Pi forums for months

RS are awaiting the next batch before allowing you to order.

Farnell went the opposite way and allowed you to order even though they have no stock.

Hopefully some people will find this useful/interesting but one of the uses I had for my RPi was as a wireless music receiver, sort of like a Sonos/AirPort Express.

*Disclaimer: if you're anti-Apple and/or don't use iTunes then this may not be so useful for you*

Yesterday I was told about a project called ShairPort that runs quite happily on the Raspberry Pi. It allows the RPi to masquerades as an AirPort device and as such, when the software is running, it allows you to send content (only music as far as I know) from your iTunes library to the RPi. As I don't have an iPhone/iPad I can't say if it works from those to the RPi but as I use iTunes a lot I've found it cool to be able to stream the music to the RPi which may even live in a different room!

Got XBMC working. Sound works, video works, tried with both HDMI and composite and both are good. Menu's are fluid and I can stream avi's from my server via tversity. I have experienced a few random crashes. I used Liam Fraser's XBMC build from the RPi forums. Overall it looks good for a VERY early alpha build. This image is based on a full debian image with XBMC running as an app - openelec should be better again as it hasn't got the overhead of debian underneath it.

hello masterluke, what kind of transfer rate can you get via the nic mate?

I briefly tried the debian image with xbmc and openelec and the openelec version doesn't seem any faster or more stable (in fact it kinda feels slower and more prone to hang)

I have a bit of a funny setup where I am connecting my Pi via ethernet to a DD-WRT router acting as a wireless client to another wireless router that my server is behind. All this means that my throughput is going to be a bad measure of the Pi NIC.

I can however stream 720p x264 without problems EXCEPT if I am using the 3.5mm audio headphone jack as the Pi cant handle the downmix 5.1 > stereo. Its all good via HDMI though.

Overclocking to 800mhz seems to fix the 5.1 to 2 channel downmix problems.

Working nicely now. Remote control from my andriod tablet is working too.

Flippant answer: about 100mhz:D

Serious answer: a little bit less sluggish

Gonna play with the voltages when I get a chance I hear 1ghz is realistic with a bit more juice.

As much as my sense of humour appreciated the flippant answer, thanks for the serious one. You probably know this already but it has been said that overvolting sets a one-time only bit and invalidates your warranty.

Hi people just got this email from Farnell
