That's quite a cool site actually. Love the case for it, the 'kit' is a bit expensive though!

Thanks!

well i might get the case from them but no way the bundle £65 :o

Ja, the kit is quite dear for what you get. OK, it'll be the correct stuff so you don't have to worry but I reckon you could buy most of those parts for a lot less than they are charging. And they must know that most people won't need all the cables but they've still put all of them into the pack.

I'm just about to email them asking for some demo pics of what the embossing effect looks like, I want to get my name on a case for my 'home' Raspberry Pi and then get my name and the name of the school I work at for my 'work' board.

Yeah I've ordered a tiny bluetooth dongle and will order a tiny wifi one too. I've got a bt mouse and keyboard as it is, so that's partially sorted.

Cool. :) Would you mind telling me how much the Bluetooth and Wifi dongles are? And the model numbers for each so I can try to find them myself? Are both dongles guaranteed to work with the Raspberry Pi? I've been struggling to find dongles that I know are compatible.

I like how the response from some of the tech sites always seem more inline with fans then actual education.

'its not recommended to overclock a pi, so lets see how far we can overclock it'.

Erm well I haven't bought a wifi one although I just searched for smallest wifi dongle, the same with the bluetooth one (auction site "
Mini Smallest USB 2.0 Bluetooth Dongle Adapter A2DP")...I have no idea whether they'll both work, but the suggestion from Raspberry Pi is that they should all work So sorry I can't tell you anything concrete.

That's fine. :) I've looked on Raspberry Pi's site and not found much solid evidence of a particular dongle being recommended. I think they will open a shop soon that will sell accessories, such as the power adapter, so we know they are guaranteed compatible. :)

I've used those adapters and they're great. They'll work fine as they're just generic BT devices that all adhere to a standard. :)

Got an email from RS Components earlier this evening.

Great progress this week on moving towards deliveries and mass production…
Together with the Raspberry Pi Foundation we’ve successfully completed compliance testing and certification work for CE, FCC and C-Tick.
This means we are now starting to ship our share of the first 2000 boards that arrived in the UK last week.
We have opened our dedicated Raspberry Pi Store to those lucky people who were first in the registration queue to place their orders.
Now that the Raspberry Pi boards are compliance certified we have triggered our manufacturing processes to move into volume production.
As new batches of Pi’s become available over the coming weeks we’ll be inviting the next in-line into the Raspberry Pi Store to place their orders.
The next batch is already in production so we’re expecting more deliveries shortly and we’ll continue to keep you updated via our regular email and online FAQs.

And while we’ve been compliance-testing the boards, a number of engineers have been road-testing the product! You can see some first reviews of the Raspberry Pi at DesignSpark.com including Raspberry Pi and Custard. As the anticipation continues to build, our Pi Perspectives are getting lots of attention too – these are the views and opinions of leading academics and scientists across industry and education.

With any luck, by the time you read your next weekly update, the first Raspberry Pi’s will be out in the world. Thanks for your continued patience and please rest assured that your Pi will be on its way as soon as we can bake it!

We now have in excess of 100,000 confirmed orders for the Raspberry Pi globally and can confirm that everyone who ordered before 18th April (i.e. today!) will definitely receive their Raspberry Pi before the end of June 2012, whatever your existing order confirmation says!
