RC cars

I've copied BongoHunter and ordered some after market parts for the CC01 Tamiya Land Rover. It might take several weeks for them to arrive though.
Welcome to my world - shipping stuff from HK and Japan has been a complete pain in the neck :)

Though 2 complete hardened steel diffs, a pair of CVD driveshafts and some new steel hinge pins and braces showed up yesterday.

Still waiting on the FRP wishbones and gearbox tops to replace the kit ABS items, a set of aluminium front c-hubs, an alloy motor mount, and the last set of driveshafts and diff outdrives I need, and also waiting for a proper set of TRF buggy shocks :D

A bit out there.
But do any of you know where I can get a CellPro PowerLab 8 V2?

All the places I have tried are sold out till October.

Just had a quick squiz and can't find any either. Why do you need this exact one? Isn't there an alternative?

//Some epic rides in here. I need to pull my finger out and get all my RC toys on the go. A CEN MG16, CEN Mini Madness, and a Multiplex Funman (still BNIB!). Also got the batteries, chargers, and a 6 channel radio ready to go!

they sound sweet got any pics? :D

@Yrkoon Thanks for the advice. The Hobbywing ESCs I have in the King Yellow and Cougar both have jumper settings for LiPO. Would it just be a case of selecting this, getting a LiPO that would fit and a suitable charger? If the ESC controls the discharge of the battery it is pretty much the same as NiMH?

I would like to get more runtime out of the Cougar, it is really quick (to me) but runs out of juice much faster than the others.

the hobbywing 1060 esc's deffo do have lipo cut off when you set the jumper, went through the same 2s gens ace 4000mah twice earlier in my lunch box, seems to be a 2 stage cut off, you will be wheelying about one second at near full power and then whack it suddenly starts going slow, think 50% power for first stage and thats the only stage i need to see to bring it in for charging, got a deans on it as all my lipos have deans, never melted one before :)

oh and in the rough garden it did do some mental front flips, might get 2 more of they esc's arriving later today one for dads pumpkin and im thinking of putting 2s in my grasshopper lol

on a 2s lipo at 4000mah i get around 40 or more minutes of full power shenanigans with the lunchie and it deffo has an extra kick up its ass on the stock 27 turn motor, unlike a nimh where first few mins is full power then the power gradually drops :)

battery i used in the lunchie :)

i would have to dremmell the bottom of my lunchies battery tray to fit one of my 5000 mah ones.

2 of they batts combined give my hyper vse about 10 mins tops :P

In my electric chair I have 8 200 AH Lifepo4 cells in 8S.
Only the PL8 V2 can cope with charging them.

Thanks anyway :)

What scale do you think 1/10th? You have all of the electrics or do you need a ESC, motor, servo, receiver?

Realistic looking jeep type thing or something sporty?

Edit: Crawlers aren't what I normally look at but this looks good (no electrics) £350 though (wheelspin models): http://www.axialracing.com/products/axi90075

Thanks, yep 1:10th I think. Seems a bit of change of plan as I've just bought him a wakeboard. But more time to do some research pre Christmas. I've never really looked into rock crawlers but axial is prob brand ive picked up on. We have a tiny hobby king rock crawler which is good fun around the house.

could try one of these https://www.modelsport.co.uk/ftx-outback-mini-x-cub-1-18-trail-rtr-met-cyan/rc-car-products/447272 in the short term to see if his interest holds and if it doesnt u got a cool toy :)

dad has one of them and it is cool and chilled out moving about slowly :)

Had this on today, last years 1/10th off-road A final at the worlds, some really great racing here (and a very cool looking track!):

Edit: The recent 12th worlds A final was good too if you don't mind on-road stuff :)

well my lipos dont fit in the grasshopper so i put the new 1060 esc in the drifter along with a old motor and receiver and it all lives again and i chucked a cheapo waterproof servo into the lunch box, just need to get a wee case or something for the receiver and it will be snow proof :D

How's this one going? Quite interested to see another old car.
Yes very cool indeed, I raced it for years, also raced a Couger 2 works and Cougar 2000 but they couldn't touch it.

Just building it up with as many new parts as I can, titanium turnbuckles, new trans internals and case, carbon shock towers, new shocks/wheels/tyres etc but the parts are super rare now.

Well waiting for bits to complete the TT-02B is sending me slightly mad!

Hopefully all bits remaining will be in my possession by a week today.... will need a couple of days to completely rebuild it, then I can see what happens when it gets put on a proper off road track (covid permitting).

As I'm impatient I've ordered a Tamiya M-07R kit to keep me going! West London race centre's track is really near my house so I'll have a good bit of tarmac to test it on.

Kit: https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/110-m-chassis-cars/rc-m07r-chassis-kit/

Now need to decide on how short a wheelbase I'm going to build it to so I can get a bodyshell on order, there's loads of great M-chassis spec shells to choose from though so need to figure out the kind of style I want - I'm thinking I should pick a shell for something FWD to keep it a bit more true to the chassis for some reason!

This one will be remaining box stock other than an alloy steering rack and most likely some alternative damper springs. Going to find some Tamiya Cup type m-chassis series racing ASAP - looks like Eastbourne clubs back running again (though it's a bit far to drive!)

that m07r looks awesome :)

well today i took out the grasshopper then soon after it started raining so i figured id better make the rest of the lunch box water proof.

got a tiny tupper ware box and cut a wee notch then smeared vaseline around and put lid on, ohh lid doesnt stay on good, cable tied it on good and put tons of vaseline around where wires and arieal come out and around all it's lid where it connects then just double sided taped the whole box and the rx is nice and double taped inside it.

1060 esc and a cheap 10 quid etronix waterproof servo, i really tested that earlier, took it out in the rain and kept going through massive puddles trying to get it as wet as possible, no problems to report, stock motor looks a bit muddy and i even hosed it down on very low pressure afterwards, there was so much wet mud stuck to it now i just need some snow :D
