RC Planes

I finally managed to get a RC simulator running in linux; Clearview ($40) run OK under wine, and allow me to use a Xbox controller to play around. That'll have to do until I receive my transmitter.

Conclusion: I need training, the 'reverse flight' 3rd person is a lot harder than I anticipated!

Killed my Hawk today so put all electrics into my RCPowers F22, even the EDF, I just need some longer push rods and it'll be ready to maiden :D

Get nice 2mm thick wire or consider relocating the servos nearer the control surfaces, you can get really nasty sloppy linkage with long push rods and thin wire/carbon. when pulling "high G" it can get messy.. dont forget to check the COG, tripple times.

that is some MAD skillz

I have flown with the older, none 720p version in the same casing. The problem I had was I wanted to mount it near to the fuse but the prop kept getting in the way of the image. Will try and get it up to youtube so you can see tonight.

I am tracking that website rather regularly now. :p Hopefully it clears customs relatively quickly so I can pay the charges and get cracking. Would be nice to have it for the weekend as it's a fairly quiet one for once! :cool:

That 17 year old doing the 3D flying.... wow. :eek:

EDIT: Reminder for myself, this, but VirtualDub and Deshaker looks pretty handy in making your videos look like they haven't been shot by someone that is convulsing. :p

Looks like I still have a week to wait judging by yours. How can they say it's a 48 hour international service (the Express 48) if it takes way longer? edit.. I suppose they're just talking about the bit from Hong Kong to the Uk. :o

It's a joke... and parcelfarce charge you /again/ for postage once it reaches the UK under "admin fee"
 
you wont get it until monday/tuesday

parcel forces fee depends on what service you took for postage aswell which is backwords as all postage is paid in full..

if you are ems 48hours they rape you from 13.50, if your using a slower service its only around 8quid

aparently your less likely to be caught by customs if you DONT use EMS
 
EMS is an alternative post service? I initially tracked mine through these guys, which isn't EMS by the looks of it.

I don't agree with this admin charge rubbish. That is taking the royal wee rather much.

You guys got any idea where I can order a soldering iron and a set of small screwdrivers? I might as well get both at once - first to wire up my server PSU, 2nd to take apart from iPhone which has recently died. :o

the auction site.. if you buy a soldering iron, try to take at least a "temperature controlled" one..
 
I don't really know what it comes with. Cheap crap screwdriver I think, but I just wondered if you guys knew anywhere cheap and reliable as it's kinda in the vicinity of RC planes. I need to get a set to prise open my iPhone 3G with as it's knackered.

Surely you have a set of screwdrivers for putting pc's together? If not look for a general set on ebay. Some screws I have used on my planes have been small though so needed those small sets. As a basic set then something like this will be good enough.

I also have a temperature controlled soldering iron, handy if you do a large range of soldering as it lets you do pcb work but also still be hot enough to solder together chunky cables and connectors.

Also this is to everyone, what power connectors do people use these days? I am using deans ultra's, do people use the cheap ones that come with battery packs now?

JST are fine for most plane/heli/quadcopter uses

aparently yhe hobbyking batteries dont come with deans because its impossible to get them in china (atleast thats what i read on a forum)
