RDNA 3 rumours Q3/4 2022

~4 more days and we should have some real info even if late in Pacific time is a bad time of day of us.

In the meantime... Unless AMD have an answer for DLSS 3.0's fake frames I'm staying away: I love fake frames so much I sometimes run my games with the monitor off when I get 1,000 Emperor's New Clothes Frames-per-second! :p

show premieres at 1:00 p.m. PDT I think its 8pm for UK

Ultimately that's up to AMD but if they do decide to price higher then why should I buy one?

Given that my last 3 cards have been nvidia then I'm exactly the sort of customer AMD needs to attract if they want to gain marketshare / mindshare. I've already ruled out nvidia this time due to the absurd pricing so it's even easier for me to rule out AMD as well if they follow suit with daft pricing of their own as I don't even have any experience with their recent RDNA products so for me it would be taking a gamble on their product and I'm not willing to gamble over 1k.

But a 40% discount?

That's what the initial claim was, as shown above.

The ball is in their court at launch. If your node is cheaper to make and has not modified the existing power connections, same coolers more or less, the price can be better than the obligatory £50 cheaper tactic.

Yes I see what your saying now. The demanding criteria of the foot already in the nvidia ecosystem punter... yes lol. No point in trying to sway them folk!

I too want it about £1000 and within 10-15% of the 4090...so I don't want to be spending much more than £1000.

Interesting, might happen if your prepared to wait 6+ months after launch.

Is it me getting stressed or people failing to see the absurdity of the position taken in the comment I qouted?

Ok then. It's perfectly acceptable than one company to seel their product 40% cheaper than their competitior from a busines POV?

Thatw ould get people fired and lead to shareholders asking questions. In the real world anyway.

Well if that's the case then why wouldn't they price significantly cheaper than Nvidia so they can gain a huge amount of market share?

Congratulations on just defeating your own argument

Because that devalues your own brand and sharteholders would not be happy. You clearly don't understand how corporations work.

:D

Waste of time. All he see’s poor AMD, people like Nvidia more wah wah. Who cares. These companies are not our friends. If AMD want my money they can stop worrying about what Nvidia are doing and charge sane prices for their cards like they used to. I think at one point I had only AMD cards for like 3-4 gens as they were competitively priced back then.

Just imagine had AMD applied his giving it away logic to the Ryzen line. We would be still on 4/6 core CPU’s and 12 cores would be $2000 or something, because you know, why should they be giving it away no? What a load of nonsense

Yup, I had a post typed up but pretty pointless tbh, you have several people pointing out the flaw in the logic now yet still keeping the fingers in ears :p

last time out I went for the 3080FE because of the better RT performance , 3080fe was £650 and 6800xt £599.99 saying that I couldnt buy the 6800xt ref for that price because AMD dont do anything for UK and Nvidia did but ignoring that I still would have paid the £50 difference for better RT performance and at the time DLSS when AMD still didnt have anything

I'll be looking with interest where the 7800xt stands, no chance I'll be willing to pay £1269 for the 4080 16gb

This guy gets it.

If RDNA 3 can't match the package overall that a 4090/4080 16gb provides in terms of DLSS, RT (and by that I mean a 20+% gap) etc. but expect to be able to charge £1400+ for it then no chance and regardless, even if it does, I won't be buying as I'm not spending 1+k on a gpu, hence why I'm not considering nvidia ada either.

I'm sure there are plenty of other products out there with massive price gulfs dictated by brand power alone, I don't see what the big deal is here?

Why should AMD sell 40% cheaper than NV?

You know why they don't? because that forces NV to lower prices, the mind-share kicks in and people just buy NV again. Which is really what the majority want cheap AMD prices for in ther first place. Plus I suspect there's at least unnofficial price fixing going on, as I suspect there is in many products.
