Really getting tired of hacking now

Answer the question. You claimed that he had a keylogger running on his system because he'd been tricked into installing one.

You either have some evidence for that statement or you don't. Which is it?

The first scan found around 17 trojans that have now been nuked

Never mind a keylogger, do you have some dodgy RDP software installed and people are actively watching what you're doing on your PC?

Full reinstall required, every disk and every usb drive SD card, removable storage etc.

I’d also be looking at any other devices on the network and taking a view on formatting those as well.

reset passwords on a known clean device. An iPhone is a good candidate for that as it’s very hard to run unsigned code on the device (yes I know there are exploits, but nothing like the issues windows has).

How the hell did you have 17 trojans?!

Did you not have any antivirus software at all? I’ve used Norton Bloatware for years and if you call them up and haggle every year and use Quidco, it’s only £30 or whatever.

I only had 1 once and that was enough for them to get my CC number, I actually knew what it was likely to be but let it run for a bit before killing it more out of morbid curiosity than anything else, wasn't surprised to hear from virus lab after submitting that it was indeed a keylogger/trojan/something.

Anyway next day I got a call from my bank saying someone in Thailand was trying to use my card (number). I was amazed at the speed and efficiency of the operation.

@OP: 17 of the things?! They'll know everything about you including your inside leg measurement and your gf's bra size.

I've only ever been infected once when going to naughty sites where the server is based in India. I installed bitdefender free edition why would you buy it? and it's been fine ever since.

I pay for full malwarebytes (3 licences) and it costs me £17 per year. It was a special offer a few years back. The only trouble is that it is the windows version so PC's only. Otherwise it is just windows security and some 2fa. I don't order or buy stuff on a phone though so maybe not an issue for me.

On google authenticator, if i select export, and then take a screenshort of the QR code, and then save it. Does that expire or will it work many years later when my phone is lost in some river or so?

can get it a lot cheaper than that i just bought another year 360 premium 10 devices for £16. 100% legit email code from the biggest online retailer on the planet.

Yeah I’ll just burn a £200 gen 4 SSD

I love the fact that you're rolling your eyes and scoffing at sacrificing a £200 SSD and a few Office programs/games when it's basically your main personal accounts and Paypal linked to your bank account/card which have been compromised, and they could potentially rinse you for every penny you have available in those accounts.

Take the hit. 17 trojans on a device should be a wake up call that you need to get your arse into gear NOW and reformat at the bare minimum.

I don’t think you’re in a position to roll your eyes at anyone. You are clearly too incompetent to be trusted with a computer and to make your own decisions based on the fact that you’ve not only been hacked, which can happen, but you have been done over so many times you are now posting about it asking for help and complaining, and still are suffering.

Try having a bit of respect and saving your dignity, with the people who are trying to help you.

Too incompetent to use a computer? Just shut up, you don’t have any idea what you’re talking about. Stick to left wing politics.

Exactly!

LOLOLOL touched a nerve have we?
TBH hurf's not wrong if you have 17 trojans!

I know perfectly well how to use a computer, I've just let my guard down a bit in recent months.

Anyway, I think I may have found the issue and it was right in front of my face the entire time. I found this object in the system tray called Screen Connect

When opened it showed this. I dont remember ever installing this and I assume its RDP software?

Seriously, stop using the computer and nuke the install.

That program will likely have been installed by another and could be reinstalled after you have removed it.

I don’t understand why you would knowingly continue to use a computer which is compromised. The ONLY way you can be reasonably confident all malicious software has been removed is to re-format and start over. Just get on and do it.

Well that's not a surprise is it.

Safe to assume near enough any website that you've entered credentials on the web page isn't real or at least has some overlay or modified page being presented and your keystrokes have been logged.

You NEED to format that drive and any others now. You also need to contact any bank and ask them to lock and reset your online accounts. You need to setup a new email address on a clean device and go from there with everything!
