Rear Ended

That's a superb result Tesla! So I take it the other guy reported it to the insurance company?

How much did you pay for the car?

Also, what parts did you change since you had the car? Take them righttttttttttttt back :D

Ohhh, I guess you can rip out the seats and keep them for if you get another Mondeo without leathers.

Hi,

I accepted £1100 for my Mondeo.
And am buying it from the insurance company for £60.

I did ok beating the bloke up from £900 I thought. We both had Autotrader website open and agreed on a value off of there.

The car is a Cat B Write Off!

Doesn't mean I cannot brake it for spares though ;)

That's good news! Happy car hunting.

Nice result. Whack the money in the bank, continue driver the rover until it dies and then get a new one tbh :p

I'm going to drive te rover until I have 1yrs NCB which comes along in June and save a bit when I can afford to adding to the Mondeo money so come summer time I should have a nice little saving and to buy a car and try to pay insurance out right instead of monthly.

I will probably get another Mondeo Ghia X but tbh I am so tempted to buy an MX-5. That's if my business is turning over enough to warrant a work van which I hope it is - MX-5 would be crap for work! :)

Update:

Still haven't received a cheque, should have had it 3 weeks ago, thats allowing 2 weeks to send aswell so a total of 5 weeks!

I sent them a letter last week. Turns out they wont give me a cheque unless I send them MOT and V5. They just forgot to tell me and my solicitor this.

I no longer have the V5 as have declared the vehicle being scrapped/broken so called the DVLA and they sent me a note saying I owned the car.

I now have to forward these to the solicitor. It's a right ****-take!

EVERY morning I wake up with an aching shoulder and breast-bone. I was hoping this would be gone now, 7-8weeks since the accident.

I am still getting about in the Rover but it isn't that nice a car and is dead boring to drive, the tyres are very crap so I have to take round abouts at about 1mph in the wet. To top it all off i slid on the mud outside my house and into a tree putting a nice big dent in the bonnet. I am going to try and beat it out today as the paint isn't damaged. Wish me luck!

So all in all insurance companies are rubbish.

I won't turn this into medical advice because I don't have the knowledge anyway, but have you had any sort of follow up check ups since going to hospital after being rear ended? For instance when I accidentally put a knife into my hand I had to go and see a hand specialist two weeks later, who confirmed I have a bit less sensitivity in my right hand.

Insurers are right *****. Hence why I estimated my mileage on the low end because it was cheaper. I posted in another thread about that, and I've checked and my policy isn't a limited mileage one.

I know how you feel mate.

I was rear ended back in december 2nd 2005. The 3rd party insurance sent out an independant assessor, but only when I kept nagging my free legal assistance and they inturn pushed the insurance company!

The asssesor wrote it off as £565, i'm then told to send a letter in writing confirming that I agree with this sum. So I send it off, and I get a phone call saying that they've changed it to £545! OK, I then E-mail them saying I accept the offer.

I wait a week and phone the solicitors. They haven't even told the 3rd party insurance that I accept their offer yet!

Fast forward two weeks and I still have no ******* cheque! Apparently they can take up to 3 months for the other guy to accept liability! **** take!

I could still be waiting till end of March sometime!

Good stuff, glad to see it's sorted and I hope the settlement reflects the weeks and weeks of hassel and pain you've been having to cope with.
