Hum I wonder if it was really necessary to kill him. None of us know the exact circumstances but I'd have hoped that every effort would have been made to take him alive. :(

It now seems that he fell on some live bullets by mistake after being captured.

Anyway, the important thing is for the country to rebuild now. I only hope, that there won't be reprisals against groups considered as sympathetic to Gaddafi like black Africans.

^ I'm sure there will be.

There were stories of soldiers surrendering to rebels only to be tortured, executed and paraded through the streets. I think there was some video footage of it on youtube a few months back.

They can't hold anything steady. This revolution would have been over 6 months ago if they had actually aimed their rifles instead of spraying them randomly in the air.

I must admit that's been one of the outstanding things I've noticed about this fight.

The only rebels who have their guns in their shoulders are the ones in cover... yet the tactic seems to be:

"Leave cover, align AK with hip, empty mag in rough direction of a town, find cover again. Repeat."

Ye gods, no wonder 'snipers' held up the rebel advance. Out there, 'sniper' counts as someone who can use the sights on a gun!

Not forgetting that for anything with a calibre greater than 7.62mm, shouting "Allah Ackbar" after firing it is mandatory ;)

Still, these guys were just normal guys before the civil war. They went up against the trained soldiers of a brutal regime. They should be applauded for that - I'm not so sure I'd have the guts to do the same if I were in their situation.

Actually, quite a few of them were also from the Libyan armed forces too. After all they were able to maintain and operate aircraft, heavy weapons and armoured vehicles they were using.

well said..

On sky now, film of Gaddafi alive and in rebel hands! Looks like they executed him, and makes very uncomfortable viewing.

an american general was over heard telling CNN they nolonger hold the record for most friendly fire casulties during a war but its not a record they intend to lose for long. :p
