Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4, Xbox and PC Hopefully)

If it had a better fast travel system you could choose to use it or not making the game more enjoyable for everyone. Those who want to take endless horse rides with Dutch waffling on can and if you want to skip you can too.... Problem solved...

You're going down that path for a reason though. You don't go to the top left of the map to skin the legendary bison for no reason. Where's the fun in heading all the way up there then pressing one button to fast travel all the way back to a major town/camp etc.

Perhaps solitaire is a game for you, you can press the hint button then and it'll basically complete it for you!

That's just a silly comparison. The majority of my time spent on red dead is literally following someone on my horse....they don't even maker the horses bloody sprints, its always a medium pace. That simply isn't enjoyable...its dull as hell and its killing the experience for a number of people.

Rockstar have taken themselves far too seriously with this game. Technically its stunning but gameplay wise? Its a chore.

Works both ways, where is the fun in watching a horse trot along a guided path in cinematic mode?...Childish response as well, if you think that adds a layer of complexity/fun then more power to you but as someone else said having a traditional fast travel system would not have hurt either play style. In the first game you could fast travel when setting up camp out in the wilds, why change it?

Who would have thought people could have differing opinions on what they find fun...shocking.

Rockstar have already admitted they found it really difficult to get the balance right between fun and realism haven’t they? I can’t see them changing any of the fundamentals with patches but there’s definitely things they could tweak that would make certain tasks feel like less of a chore.

I didn't find the travelling all that boring tbh, just set a waypoint and use the cinematic mode to auto-travel there. Gives you time to put the kettle on or get a snack etc. It's also an easy way to get your bonding level up with your horse.

Never even knew you could do this!

Definitely needs a better fast travel system - at least then you have the choice. Not sure they'd be able to add it in a patch? Hoping they will though.

Half the fun of long rides is getting caught up in the random encounters gameplay mechanic!

If you could fast travel between missions you'd be able to burn through the game in no time, I can see why they didn't add it.

Shame they couldn't have created some fun gameplay motivation to get people to explore the world, instead of forcing them to ride through it.

If there's no dialogue I normally stick it on cinematic mode and go and do something else.

Some woman was getting chased by people on horses last night, I spun the camera round to see what was happening whilst I too was riding and smacked into a tree branch and went flying off my horse into the undergrowth, by the time I had picked myself up and got my horse back on his feet, she was long gone, I have no idea what became of her.

She would've despawned and will pop up later for you to engage with her. Even if she died, she'll still come back. The guy seeking Gavin appeared in another city after I killed him, and the old blind beggar popped up several times after several killings.

Breath of the Wild managed to do this while still having a fast travel system.

I'm not far in but liking the game, I only have limited time to play and already think some of the "realistic" aspects could be removed, like having a bath, do I really need to scrub each body part? And if so, why is there no ball bag option? I get what Rockstar have tried to do but not sure all their decision are on the money.

It is truly bizarre how the game simply won't let you do anything the way you want. I am on a mission atm where it started me with the bow and a rifle. So I went to my horse and swapped the bow for the shotgun. I died, and when I respawned I had the bow again. Now I was not in a position to change it though as I'd passed a checkpoint.
