Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4, Xbox and PC Hopefully)

Do you not run out of room in your satchel quicker as you progress and then require crafting bigger satchels?

I finished the main story without a satchel upgrade. You get a full size one at the end (99 max stacks).

I have a question about stocking the camp with food ,
is this my responsibility, I don't like having to hunt for the camp all the time, I have just been using the ledger to restock the food but Im not sure if I can keep doing that.

Donating to the camp doesn't have any bearing on the story. You can donate as much or as little as you like. I used the ledger to restock when it was low. The only thing worth upgrading is for the fast travel and potentially the horse stable, so you can duplicate pelts for easier crafting

I think the weight system is bugged for your character anyway. I was cooking for 30 mins and ate everything and it still said I was underweight.

Another bug I've found is to do with the legendary animals. I've killed all of them (except the Jaguar, but that needs one of the 9th challenge steps). I can't use the materials for the Wolf and Big Horn Ram at the trapper as it says I haven't handed it in. They're crossed off on the map but my compendium doesn't show them. The wolf pelt bugged on the back of my horse, instead of covering the back it shows as a straight texture which when you take it off, it just shows as 'pelt'.

For the record, killing and skinning the legendary animal is enough, you don't need to deliver it to the trapper. It'll automatically go there if you forget to loot it, or you died whilst transporting it. You'll just miss out on the money for handing it in.

E: Oh I also tried to do that 99 gold bar glitch last night, unfortunately it didn't work for me as I'd already had the horse pamphlet. Still got $1000 out of it though!
It might be worth doing if you're after 100%, so you can use the money for the premium cigarette packs for all 144 cards. Costs about $2000 to get all 144, although I did have around 50 I think by time I finished the story. You only need one full set for it to count for 100%. All 144 gives you an item that you use to create an item at a Fence. Any duplicates you can sell for $2 each.

Thanks, I
still like to donate, seems a bit pointless if it doesn't make any difference though, I will concentrate on camp upgrades I think then.

really wish the quick travel options where better. Jumped on for an hour last night and spent maybe 15 minutes in actual gameplay, the rest just riding around from location to location

Has anyone changed the controls, such as deadzone and sensitivity, Ive used a few tips from these forums but riding around can be quite jarring sometimes when I move the camera while on my horse.

I've used the alternate FPS option since launch. Deadzone I have on the lowest setting and I think my sensitivity is around the middle. Play around until it suits you.

Being able to fast travel back to camp would have been nice. The horse riding whilst fun and nice to look at gets really boring later on it’s literally %80 of the game.

I’m now just plowing through the story missions to get it done but it’s really dragging now I’m getting a bit bored of it all. Definitely not one I will play again......

A technical show piece but the actual game is pretty tedious..

I didn't find the travelling all that boring tbh, just set a waypoint and use the cinematic mode to auto-travel there. Gives you time to put the kettle on or get a snack etc. It's also an easy way to get your bonding level up with your horse.

You must be drinking a lot of tea/coffee then, the novelty is cool at first but have to agree with Moogleys that it is definitely tedious after 50+ hours.

I don't want to put the kettle on, I want to play a game. I'm approx 20 hours in and its just a grind. I was convinced this would be my GOTY but its God Of War by a long way for me.

You can't please some people I guess. If it did it automatically for you, you'd say the game was too simple.

This.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the Horse Riding Cowboy Simulator-esq game this is and I'm normally frustrated by long walks/travelling between here and there kind of games with nothing in between. There is certainly enough going on inbetween be it greeting random strangers, being held up by O'Driscoll's or Raiders and general other random encounters with little things taking you off on a tangent that could help reward you later on. This aspect is definitely "Horses for Courses" excusing that obvious pun is obvious but I really like it 50+ hours in and still no where near bored and only just started on Chapter 3!

I absolutely love this game. It's all of the small intricate details which make the world feel alive.

I use the time travelling around the map between places to hunt or get involved with the random encounters.

Trying to be a good guy, but tempted to start robbing stage coaches and such.

It should become popular to hate on this game within a few weeks ;) seems like things are going that way!

It's not perfect, but it's a hell of a lot more polished/realised than many other open world games we get.

I must admit I haven't really chased the hunting or creditable upgrades as it seems like too much hassle for what it's worth but it's nice that it's there but I'm getting on fine ignoring that aspect. Don't get me wrong, I was hunting a fair bit in the first 2 chapters but have been focusing on missions and side stories for the whole of chapter 3 so far.

I do wonder what aspects will be carried in to the next GTA game. Interaction on this level with random NPCs seems good here in smaller populated towns etc, but when they blow that out to a (presumably) large modern city, I wonder how that plays out.

Nothing to do with simplicity, what is complex or interactive about engaging cinematic mode and watching a screen? I have literally put down the controller and started browsing my phone on multiple occasions to pass the time.

Most other open world games have a reasonable fast travel system, Skyrim, AC, Fallout, Witcher etc etc (where you unlock fast travel following your first visit). Don't recall any of those being labelled as simple. Is there any reasonable explanation for the one sided fast travel system? You can fast travel from camp but not back (you can get a train but again assumes you are near a station and then you still have to ride from the station to camp)? Doesn't make sense to me personally.

I can't be the only one that is time poor? If I'm settling in for a quick 1 hour session I'd rather not spend 10 to 15 minutes of that session watching a horses backside however nice the landscapes are.

So if they had a true fast-travel system, say it goes from a 60 hour game, to a 40 hour game. Would you then complain it's too short?

What's wrong with using the stagecoaches? That's a fast-travel option which you can use to get you somewhat close to your camp, then travel the short distance via horse.

This is what I’ve been doing. Use the coach or train to get close to the location I need to get too.

Why would I? Travel padding is not game content/gameplay, quality over quantity for me, would have been perfectly content with a traditional fast travel system. I already stated the latter system requires you are in the vicinity but if you've gone off the beaten path away from a major town/station that is not really useful.

It's great that others have no qualms/issues with the game but for me the annoying aspects of the game definitely detract from the overall experience, it's one of very few games where I feel that personally if they nailed certain Quality of Life features, it definitely would have been up there with the best games of this generation.

You're going down that path for a reason though. You don't go to the top left of the map to skin the legendary bison for no reason. Where's the fun in heading all the way up there then pressing one button to fast travel all the way back to a major town/camp etc.

Perhaps solitaire is a game for you, you can press the hint button then and it'll basically complete it for you!
