Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4, Xbox and PC Hopefully)

First question should be is, do you have 4K HDR compatible TV? If so, go with the Xbox One X over the Pro as the X should always beat the Pro in multiplats as it is by far the more powerful console.

If 1080p TV - wouldn't bother with the upgrade to either the Pro or the X unless loading times mean anything to you.

Never thought of the Xbox that's a good idea , yeah I've got a Samsung 4k tv

Will this be 1440p upscaled to 4k checkerboarding 30fps on ps4pro? I guess neither the ps4 pro or the xb1x will get 60fps right?

This does indeed look like it's going to be superb. I should have finished Assassins Creed Odyssey by the time it comes out

No one has mentioned specifics yet - probably under NDA until reviews are allowed out.

I would imagine PS4 Pro will be using dynamic resolution with either 1440/1600 locked on the vertical axis. I would hope the X has 4k checkerboard given that it is supposed to be an X Enhanced title.

I'm more interested in 60fps than higher res.

Rockstar have never done higher than 30fps on consoles I believe.

Those who have played the game so far have said it isn't an issue but if you're coming from high hz PC gaming I'd imagine it will be quite jarring at first.

Exactly my concern. I do have a ps4 pro, I find 30fps unbearable so buy games that have 60fps options like The Last Of Us, GT Sport etc.

I'm hoping there is an option to run lower res 60fps in the options. If not, then I might just have to give it a miss.

To be honest, adjusting to 30fps doesn't take long. Yes it doesn't feel as 'smooth' but its certainly playable.

Lots of good deals on the Xbox One X going around at the moment but if I was spending that much I would want to be able to play things like Horizon:ZD and other PS exclusives. I really want to play this however.

Surprised you can even cope with 1080P ;)

I sure as hell will not be double dipping for when it does come to PC, awful practice by them and shame on all who do.

To be honest, if the game is to the standard I have got in mind, I will double dip for PC. I would happily pay for something again just like I did for GTA V.

I am very hyped for the release and have preordered the ‘ultimate edition’ or whatever they called it. I am optimistic and can only hope I don’t get burned.

I was wondering about that - do you guys that have been playing 4K games on X1X/PS4 Pro, when you come to play something at 1080p or even 720p (for 360 games) does it look horrendous to you now?

I got no problems with 1080p. 4k is slightly sharper but not that much different I find, some games, the difference is more obvious but still not enough. 60 FPs > 4k 30 FPs any day of the week.

All in all, 4k is a big fat meh from me.

720p.... Yuck.
