Red Dead Redemption 2

Cheers, way off from completing this tbh, keep getting sidetracked with random exploration.

Same, over 110 hrs just started doing the missions in Saint Denis.Riding to a mission I end up spending hours hunting/seeing what’s over there/trying to catch that Legendary fish etc.Think I’ll have to do a mission only play through as I’m losing the plot of the story.

It's a testament to how well crafted the game is that you can so easily be distracted and drawn into these little mini-adventures.

Is there anyone that actually likes the character of Dutch? Since the beginning, all I've wanted to do is shoot him in the face and put dynamite in his saddlebags.

The other NPCs are fine and are played well.

The detail in this screenshot unreal how good this game looks at times.

Never really use fast travel either, one of the best bits about the game is discovering all the little side activities while you travel to and from missions... I often start off travelling across the map towards a mission and then get distracted for 2-3 hours interacting with other things that I've spotted along the road.

100% if you fast travel you just spoiling the game for yourself. If you have already explore the game world and just doing collecting then fast travel will be handy.

I didn't fast travel until 150 hours or so in, at this point there's not much I haven't explored, if anything.

Looks so good in first person that I'm tempted to play it all in fp

I think I'm about halfway through chapter two, and I only realised last night that you can switch to first-person view!

I think I prefer moving around towns, and especially shops, in first-person since you can see what you're interacting with more easily, and you do away with the lumbering turing circle and jerky stopping and starting motions Arthur has at times. I haven't done any gunfighting in first-person yet, but it seems like that might feel smoother too.

I can't decide whether this is something I'll stick with or not. It looks cool to feel closer to the detailed world, but it puts Arthur as a character less front-and-centre, and the game hasn't felt for me yet like my own sandbox, but more Arthur's story in that world.

There's no way I'd want first-person on horseback, and I can't imagine it working well for fistights either. I think using the setting to switch back to third-person in cover might also be best.

Anyone else played through very much of the game in first-person?

Totally agree. I never used the fast travel that you get in the story but now that I am 83% done it saves a few mins. Saying that, I have only used it to Rob trains without getting bounties :D

2 things:

1. DirectX12 has vastly superior image quality over Vulkan in this game; mainly a much clearer and sharper image. I can't go back to Vulkan after trying it.

2. Vulkan has vastly superior loading times for some reason....

Not really noticed a difference in frame rate, seems on par...

Just thought it was interesting to point out.

I’m going to be controversial here and say the graphics aren’t all that. But the lighting is amazing! When I play this game and its dull/overcast/flat in game I think the graphics are just ok. When I play in different lighting conditions it can look spectacular.

The animations are also superb adding to the realism.

what settings are you using? This game has phenominal graphics...

I'd love to play more of it in first person but annoyingly when in first person you seem to "jog" by default, I'd like first person to be at walking speed instead of the jog
