Red Dead Redemption 2

For those that crash back to the launcher after a couple of start up screens are you using Comodo ?

Then try this..

Go into Settings , Advanced Protection , Miscellaneous and then at the top you will see Don't detect shellcode injections in these applications

Click these applications and add Red Dead Redemption. I added the whole Red Dead Redemption folder.

Make sure you click ok when coming out the menus and now try the game.

Only had to do this on one other game .... Forza 4, they sorted it now but suffice to say at the time it drove me nuts.

I turned off AVG and mine started. Completed first couple of missions without problems.
Just about to start hunting trip then game crashed but I have seen it running and it looks damn good

I can't get HDR to look right on this at all, turned it off for now.

I was just about to ask about HDR.

on console, they completely borked HDR and sort of faked the effect in some way. I heard they resolved this to an extent with a later patch (after I had finished the game) so I never checked it out. Maybe what your seeing is the same HDR result as console release?

I think DF covered it in a video

Yeah it looks dark and washed out like xbox did at launch. The PC version does have the new game HDR setting that fixed the consoles HDR but it does not look right to me at all.

What is HDR support like on PC these days? I plan in playing via my TV.

Last game I tried was destiny 2 at launch and got it working somehow but it wasnt straight forward, I had to mess with settings in some way but it's been a while. Have they made it easier in recent times?

No crashes here, have set it to dx12 everything on ultra with no aa or vsync as have an uw gsync monitor. Only completed first two missions looks awesome so glad I waited for pc release.

EDIT: just wanted to add I haven’t even checked what FPS I am getting as it really isn’t that kind of game. Have an oc rtx2080ti and it looks stunning and running smooth!

Vsync should be forced to on via the driver if you are using gsync

Sorry to hear you're having issues with this, you're certainly not the first person I've interacted with having the same problem!

It does seem that there's an issue with this at the moment. We've reported it to the Rockstar team and are waiting to hear back on a solution.

Until we hear back from them or they officially announce a workaround I'm afraid there isn't anything we can suggest to fix this.

Some people have reported that deactivating anti virus or similar protection fixes the issue, you can try this but it's not an official fix.

The best thing to do now is to keep an eye on the Rockstar channels as any fix it workaround will be updated there first:

Sorry for the hassle this is causing, I'm experiencing the same thing!

Thanks,

Seems Ryan is busy today, well busy in copy and pasting the same response to every technical ticket (I've seen this response multiple times for various problems on Reddit)

Try switching HDR from Cinematic to Gaming mode, pretty much fixed the HDR problems that the earlier console versions had.

I did this but it just looks to dark. But I think it is PC settings as when I turn HDR on even my desktop gets a bit dark. Works fine on console games so maybe it is PC side settings, all I did was press the HDR on button in display settings. Never actually tried it on PC before tbh.

Seems to scale crazy well, i just run benchmark at balanced settings and it was flying 90 fps then maxed everything and still got 30fps.

So should play 4k60 most setting quite high on my very ageing rig.
