Red Dead Redemption 2

Played a good solid 4 hours last night. Ran flawlessly however it tanks my gpu but I can see why, like the next crysis/Witcher game really

Updating the BIOS made no difference for me, I doubt ill be seeing a 1.0.0.4 BIOS anytime soon given MSI are painfully slow to update the x470 range.

If it was indeed BIOS related it would be the most ridiculous issue in gaming history. What's next, minimum spec will be a specific motherboard? A specific tower? A specific set of speakers?

**** Rockstar ... and **** MSI whilst we're at it :p

It isn't bios related Mcbain. All 7 of my friends updated their bios, made zero difference.

It certainly wasn't for me, plenty of people saying it does work for them though which is bizarre. Perhaps it's the resetting to BIOS defaults that's doing it, or something along those lines.

43fps is not playable in the slightest, why are you getting such poor performance? As poor as the game is low FPS is not something I am getting maxed out.
43fps, I remember when people used to tell me you can't see mnore than 25fps.
RDR2 is working well on my 1440p Gsync monitor at over 60 fps on a 1080ti with default selction of settings. It looks really nice.
Andi.

I would never trade eye candy for sub 60fps. Fair play to you.

Some people must be more sensitive to the point under 60 feels like super choppy and makes them sick. But I don't feel that, running between 35 and 60fps at all ultra bar AA off and water left at default and 0.75 res it works exceptionally well and you can't tell between 4k and 0.75.

BELLISSIMO

Under 60fps is night and day, I personally can tell the difference massively. Some people may be happy to game under 60fps I guess.

Still not even running for the 7 people on my friends list, they all get the same error and have tried multiple fixes. Feel sorry for them because I kind of talked a few of them into buying it ffs.

Got the same error last night but got it running this morning.

I first try the troubleshoot from Rockstar: gpu already have latest NV driver, update bios/chipset driver(3700x/x570), disable AV and change to disable full screen/run as admin in compatibility mode. After those steps fixed the launcher error but game still not launch due to a lack of privileges on the Game Library directory.

This morning, I went back to the compatibility mode, this time untick disable full screen/run as admin and the game launched without issue :):).

Will tell them to try now mate.

Edit - Nope still the same crash, cheers though pal. They still get the launcher error if those options are ticks or not. Is there a way of using an older Rockstar Launcher version?

30fps makes me dizzy and nauseous. It’s why I had to go back to PC gaming from console. Can play all day at 60 and above.

Out of interest, you are all starting the game from within the launcher and not the shortcut?

Just putting it out there as the shortcut does not work and throws that error.... so not used it since

The shortcut tells you to load the game via the launcher :p

Classic Rockstar, add a shortcut to the desktop that doesn't work.

I updated my Nvidia graphics driver to the latest one as suggested before playing this, I have just reverted to an earlier one and it it running a lot better, I still get a little stuttering in places but no where near as bad as with the latest driver

For those with problems, try to disable the antivirus and then start the launcher and launch the game from it. I have Avasat and if I disable all shileds for 10min, then start the launcher and start the game from there is all fine. Worked without a problem, not CTD, no nothing. All smooth (in Vulkan). If you start the launcher, then stop/disable the antivirus and try to start the game, it will fail (at least for me) when the shotgun is loaded in the intro movie.

I'm playing it mostly in 1st person view and the narrow FoW is really annoying at times (even sent to it's maximum/widest value), same issue as in GTA 5. I think someone at R* doesn't really pay attention what's the field of view of a normal person or don't really care.
Also the first person view starts to show the "low res" of textures on ground, trees, etc., even at ultra settings. Plus the support for multiscreen setup is not where it should be, as in Fullscreen the map is not displayed properly and it only shows right in windowed mode - but like that the hud elements are set to the side of the monitors (so plus and minuses).

None of my friends use Anti Virus on their systems. The ones that use Windows 10 have Bit Defender disabled. Seems no one actually knows how to fix this broken game, hopefully Rockstar will release a patch soon.

They don't use the built in windows defender? Mine crashed on the gun intro, I disabled that and it ran. I then turned it back on and it has been fine ever since. Really weird.
