Red Dead Redemption 2

It's going to look fantastic on pc but the game isn't without its flaws.

Looting is a chore. Rather than just press a loot button and grab all you have to hold down the button and wait while he rummages.

I appreciate its a slower paced western game (beautifully atmospheric) but some of the gameplay elements are just annoying.

Like the GtaV release, it will be impressive.
I loved RDR1 on the 360.

I wonder if these annoyances can be worked around with some keyboard and mouse macros.

Yep

It's typical Rockstar. Every mission seems to introduce a new game mechanic that barely gets used again.

Great open World, boring game.

Will get it on Steam. But I'm not paying stupid money and I'm happy to wait for it to be on sale (waited all these years since the original so another 1 won't matter)

I'm getting it on the GTA store, I've no need for it to be on Steam as I'm in it for the single player side. And with GoG Galaxy 2.0 being so smooth with keeping all my games nice and neat, it's no difference to me at this point.

However, I'm concerned that my EVGA 2080 ti XC Ultra will struggle to even get to 144fps at 1440p. Tempted to buy a second and go sli...

Yup, why run 2x stores/launchers, as you're just double-dicked, if these games require their launchers too, then just get them on theirs. :p
I already mentioned some reasons. Just because some rando youtuber says you shouldn't isn't a good counter argument. Assuming the Steam overlay still works and Steam achievements, then the Steam version it is. If they no longer work and it's like Ubisoft, then fair enough, i'll still probably buy on Steam because all in one place yo.

Seeing as you can add non steam games to steam anyway you might as well do that and buy it early.

I have had problems getting the Steam overlay to work with non steam games in the past. I honestly don't mind waiting a few months or what ever if it means having it on my preferred launcher. I waited over a year for GTAV, so a few weeks/months won't hurt.

Probably best anyway, it should be patched by then.

From my experience Overlays cause a lot of issues ! Ive had nothing but lag & FPS drops running them , I now have them all turned of and my pc is silky smooth.

I'll be getting this. Been a while since I played a solid single player game. I still have a vanilla GTX 980 however but game at 2560x1080 for 60fps in the games I've played with high to max settings (Rise of Tomb Raider etc).

I think it will be fine

Do you get 60fps on AC: Odyssey with that card?

I've not played it but if there's a demo I am happy to try? Odyssey is one game I did fancy playing a while back but never got round tonight. Will confirm tonight!

Edit*
No demo by the looks of it :/

i can just about cope with 75fps, 90fps
is optimal. i get sickness in the 30-60fps range.

it’s not just about frames per second,
it is about screen draw latency. 60fps+ and a sub 10.5ms frame time will give a vastly
improved experience for me which is otherwise unplayable.

I'm debating going from 16gb to 32gb ram... I have a feeling this game might like the extra room
