Red Dead Redemption Thread

I'm just over 30% of the way through and have just done the The Assault on Fort Mercer mission meaning that I'm pretty much done story wise now with the first location (or I assume that anyway); question though....

Having looked at some of the trophies you have to complete the hideouts, when can I do these? I have done Pike's Basin, and Gaptooth Breach but haven't come across Twin Rocks yet but I also see another trophy requires clearing out Fort Mercer presumably I cant do this one yet?

You need to unlock the locations first and you can only unlock some of the locations by progressing further with the story. :)
 
I HATE how about 95% of people online interpret online free roam as online free for all, I rode halfway across the map tonight to literally neigh my horse at some guy and try to make communications, he shot me in the face! So I sent a messages saying "All I was doing was saying hi" gave him a wee shot in the back, messaged him telling him "We're now even!" Rode up to him again, he aimed his gun cautiously then carried on riding with me! What clinched it though, was me riding off, hitting B and my Cattle Rustler character yelling "Don't tell anybody, but I'm wearing a corset!" as I sped off into the dust :D

Classic! I have yet to play online, want to 100% SP first. Then play online.

This game has exceeded it's money worths in my eyes.

The online is great, as long as you approach it with an open mind, free roam IS full of tossers usually, and in most competitive modes there are players who can shoot the flea off your horse at 200 yards, but once you get past that, it's great :)
 
The riding across the map from Blackwater to Escalera (?) free roam achievement was hampered for me by people trying to shoot me as I was doing it! :o

Managed it in the end though. :)

I did that mission with a friend and we took out anyone and everyone that got in our way. Was epic. :D You need to travel in pairs, the west can be brutal on your own.

As much as I love this game, I keep thinking about how much more they could have done with the missions. I was really hoping to infiltrate a gang by wearing their outfit then doing a few crimes with them like holding up a train and robbing everyone.

Would be cool if the outfits let you do missions for gangs.

I wish mine was that hard, logged in last night, freeroam with 1 other dude doing a few hideouts, so I just ran faster than my little horsie wanted to go! :)
 
If you look at the soical challenges page, im sure some ppl are cheating or bugging/glitching theres a guy who did the solomon folly in 0 seconds, takes longer than that to get to armadillo ( i did it in 2.12 )

Thats why I hate online games so much these days. Theres always something fishy going on and it makes it pointless even trying sometimes.
 
Just got this today, cost a tenner after trading in Alan Wake. Started playing an hour ago and am hooked - I love the western genre and have been waiting for a game like this since I was 10 years old! (long time ago :D )

Ditto... sort of - I traded in Splinter Cell & Darksiders & Jericho... going to finish of Alan Wake and then have a bash! Should keep me occupied until Crackdown 2! :)
 
Have tried putting more effort into multiplayer, but jeez there really isn't much to do. The gang hideouts just tend to be shoot outs between players more than the gang as there are so few everyone ends up going for the same one. I've never bothered with achievements etc so that doesn't really make me wanna play.

Single player is great but multiplayer seems half finished to me. DLC can't come soon enough.

You do realize that free roam is just a lobby? Try playing the game modes.

Having issues with signing up to the Social Club... Apparently my birthday isn't valid lol.

Nope, I have tried all dates, still isn't 'valid'.

Am going to try a different one.
