Red Dead Redemption Thread

Still says pending on mine from game when I click on cancel it says this

1 x Red Dead Redemption Limited Edition
Product temporarily removed from sale.

I hope there is a mode to stop players showing up on the map. Spoils it imo. In free roam its fine, but on smaller maps it isn't needed.

Anyone jumping straight into MP? I want to play atleast 10 hours of SP before touching MP.

Everything I've watched on the mP looks a bit dull tbh. The game modes don't look as good as Call Of Juarez 2. Ive read the balance is bad as well. I'm not a gta fan so the SP would wear me down but I enjoyed MP on Juarez so I'm keen to see what people think or if it becomes another 2 minute ocuk wonder.

Mine was posted yesterday so hopefully it turns up today. I need SOMETHING good in my life to happen as my 5 week old car blew it's engine yesterday :(

Something good? Just look at the mrs mate, then remember it's just a car ;)

That shows the difference between the 2 tbh, you can see its more blurry on the PS3 and less foliage in places i think its the 360 for sure.

If you have the choice between the two then I'd say go for 360, but honestly I don't see any major problems there at all.

There're some significant loss in foliage making some epic scene on 360 looking down right pathetic on PS3.

Don't know what that dudes problem is, but there's nothing pathetic about any of those screens IMHO.

if you look at the pic with the boat ,in the background there is a type of bridge which is complete on the 360 and uncomplete on the ps3 pic ,which leads me to wonder if the ps3 pics are final versions???????????

There is quite a noticable difference IMO and given the PS3 is technically more powerful than the 360, you would not expect it to be the platform that is running a lower resolution, with a seemingly gimped engine.

I would suggest that's more an example of the poor LOD/object pop-up that the PS3 seemingly suffers.

On the whole they don't look that different, in general the only main difference is the PS3 version looks more blurry. But, in some scenes the difference is quite staggering, especially the foliage on the ground

the PS3 is technically more powerful than the 360,

Depends which way you look at it, sure the Cell is theoretically more powerful than the 360's Xenos, but the GPU in the 360 is more powerful than the PS3's GPU.

Well, I have the option of either getting this on my 360 or my PS3, and I will probably choose the latter – that neogaf comparison, to me, smacks of being written by a die hard 360 fan rather than someone nice and impartial; it seems that every difference however slight, is blow up to huge proportions so that they can thump their chest and say that the 360 is better.

Looking at the comparisons I totally agree that the 360 version looks better than the PS3, in much the same way that Dragon Rising also looked better (reportedly) on the 360, but unless you sit there looking for these differences, I bet you wouldn’t notice them as we’ll all be too busy actually playing the game.

Unstable framerates.... well, I never found them that noticeable on GTA4 to intrude on my gaming experience, so that won’t be an issue for me, I’m just looking forward to playing on a console I know wont pack up with a red light show, or sound like a dyson on cleanup duty (one of the things that spoils Alan Wake a little).

I think it’s a shame that the versions aren’t the same though, the PS3 does seem capable of more (just looking at other titles out there), I wonder if it’s just lazy coding? Also, not using the capacity of the BR disc to include higher res textures seems a little daft, but, I don’t think there’s many (if any) games that have exploited BR much yet...

Hey ho, still looking forward to this, if it looks as good as GTA4 I’ll be happy :-)

)

Install the game then, my 360 is pretty much as quiet as my PS3 when that's done. (the PS3 gets quite loud after a while, non slim)

The framerate will be noticeable, GTA IV ran considerably worse on PS3 as I believe the average framerate was lower as reported by Eurogamer tests. Aliasing is what I'll notice the most, that and the added blurryness.

Doesn't matter much though, was getting it on 360 from the start because of multiplayer, just happy it's also the better version. Nice little treat. :D
