Red Dead Redemption Thread

Install the game then, my 360 is pretty much as quiet as my PS3 when that's done. (the PS3 gets quite loud after a while, non slim)

Makes no difference, my PS3 is pretty much inaudible during all roles (both fatty and slim) – gaming, BR and DVD, but the 360 is a constant high pitched whine, and hasn’t improved with the move to a new 60 gig variant.

The framerate will be noticeable, GTA IV ran considerably worse on PS3 as I believe the average framerate was lower as reported by Eurogamer tests. Aliasing is what I'll notice the most, that and the added blurryness.

I bet it won’t – seriously, there wasn’t a single instance where the frame rate in GTA4 impacted my gaming, so I fail to see RDR being any different; in anything, the screen tearing in Alan Wake is starting to do my head in, but that’s for another thread and still not something I worry about enough to care longer than a few seconds :p

Doesn't matter much though, was getting it on 360 from the start because of multiplayer, just happy it's also the better version. Nice little treat. :D

Well, my group of friends are all getting the PS3 version, so that’s what swayed it for me – given the choice though I think I would prefer the 360 version, purely because the multiplayer accessibility on 360 and the connectivity to friends still pounds the PSN tripe into the ground imo. As you rightly say having the ‘better’ version would be a nice treat, but I very much doubt that anyone will give a crap about the graphical differences when the game rolls – other that those insecure people we all like to call “fanboys” :D

Why does it always come down to this, days before it’s released. Yes there are differences when they are side by side but surly it’s more about the game play and experience that you will remember not the FPS and DPI.

Its just for people who want to know which version to have for the best experience possible. If you have both consoles, then get the one that looks the best as well has having great gameplay too.

Both versions will be brilliant, but the 360 looks better, so if you have both consoles, then get the one that looks better and still has great gameplay.

If you don't have both and have just a PS3 or 360, then this doesn't apply to you at all.

Judging from that the PS3 version looks junk.

"There're some significant loss in foliage making some epic scene on 360 looking down right pathetic on PS3"

All the pictures in that link, the difference is so small I really wouldn't care either way. I can't remember the last time I played a game and worried about patches of grass.

Just fan boys trying to justify their console of choice.

I remember the same still shots for ghostbusters being anal-lised over and over again to see what was best. Ignoring the fact the game was a load of **** people where more interested in the marks left by the proton pack on the wall.

FFS. Alliance and Leicester must be blocking every payment.

Going to have to call them now. Hate doing that.

EDIT: Blocked 3 payments because they thought it was a 'fraudulent transaction'

Nice of them to call.

No point in pre-ordering now I guess. Will have to pick it up on Friday.

I hope there is a mode to stop players showing up on the map. Spoils it imo. In free roam its fine, but on smaller maps it isn't needed.

I was thinking about this earlier. Players should show up on the map, but once you get within a few hundred metres of them, it should disappear. That still allows them to hide and ambush you, plus if they try and run away you will see it on your map.

R* may have already implemented something like this though, I'm not sure. If not, I'll chuck them an email and maybe they can put it in a patch/update.

Its more the resolution difference and lack of proper AA on the PS3 that would be the deal breaker for me, the 360 version runs native at 720p, with a solid 30+fps with 2 x MSAA.
The ps3 version runs at 1152x640 (sub HD) with Quincunx AA(not that great), with fps averaging between 24 - 28, this info is taken from reviews i seen and user experience.

Going to pick up a 360 on Friday as there are some exclusives i would like to play on that as well and pick up the RDR also for it.

Would prefer the 360 version but I'm not shelling out to play online when the PS3 is free and I won't notice differences unless I start comparing everything which is pointless!

Think they may be dispatching it today. Some people including me have noticed the "Cancel" option has been removed from the order, so they must have taken the money out.

Still got the Cancel button on mine but they've said this week that the game will be here by Friday :)
