Red Orchestra (2) : Heroes of Stalingrad

Awesome games last night in that Grain elevator map, real teeth and claws cq stuff. As for graphics, cant say ive ever relied on that to be much of an indicator as to how good a game is, but if thats your bag, then yeah RO2 isnt the most amazing graphically. I fin interiors to be better than exteriors actually.

Played our first ROLadder.net match on Sunday night, where we played Apartments & Spartnovga (sp) both in Countdown.

No real hard tactics for these maps yet as everyone is still coming up with new ideas and positions. But as most have figured out get to the flanks and push into the rear (ohhh).

This game really does shine in match play where the player numbers a fixed, everyone is on comms and we all know what we're doing (...mostly).

Match duration was extended prolly by 20mins as ppl had to restart their game due to the sound bug. It got to the point that half our team where playing with no sound on the last round just to get it finished :P

Sounds fun, what is your team?

i5 2500k @ stock, 8GB DDR3 and a HD6870 with factory overclock. I get 60fps in places but it plummets randomly.

I have the same spec as you, only my i5 is clocked to 4ghz and I have crossfire 6870s (but I dont think RO2 supports crossfire?) and my performance is very good, dips to 40fps in places like pavlovs house, but is usually 60fps or above.

Bare in mind, 40fps, or even 30fps is very playable (heck, most xbox/ps3 games dont run at above 30fps).

i5 2500k should never get anything less than 60fps at all times with UT3 engine, imo. That's just bad coding.

They have stated that some of the maps (pavlovs house for instance) are rendering far too much out of view detail.

They have promised to fix this by re-coding the maps and released updated versions one at a time.

I played this a little last night, fun for a while but it was a glitchy laggy mess to be honest.

I spent half the time fighting the controls and environment. Being shot at so hit prone to cover. . . . cannot prone here. Weapon ADS . . can't deploy here. Cover system, well it gets you killed more often than not. Stubbornly refusing to climb simple obstacles or enter through windows too.

Hitreg seems way off too. I want to like this game, I love WW2 stuff but I can see myself dithcing this for BF3, who's Beta is a smoother and less frustrating experience.

Major patch scheduled for this week, apparently fixing;

1) Graphical Improvements in some lighting conditions
2) Improved performance in nearly every map
3) Stats/achievements systems fixed
4) Fix of the sound loss on map change (again... this time with feeling)
5) Several minor performance enhancements in code

Ah finally the one I have been waiting for: Stats/achievements systems fixed
now lets hope they wipe the stats/unlocks.

I picked this up for £20 the other day and its got me hooked :) i cant say i have had poor performance ive not got a very good PC compared to most but i get a solid 40 fps constant the only issue i have are random freezing every 10 20 seconds and elastic banding around cover.
