Red Orchestra (2) : Heroes of Stalingrad

Been playing a number of praccy matches over the last weeks and we are now looking to recruit new players. We are looking to play in the CD and TE ladders atm. CD in a match is amazingly intense and in no way a camp fest, every kill matters.

Matches only seem to last mere minutes (in CD mode) rather the traditional 90mins or so from RO1 days.

If anyone is interested in playing competitively then drop by www.fmj-clan.co.uk and post in the "Join fullmj" thread. (p.s. Neil need not apply :p)

I asked in the networking sub forum but have got no takers so I'll ask here as well. My router is getting massacred by RO2 and only RO2, happens often in the server browser but also during a game. What happens is I completely lose my internet connection and it takes a good 2 or 3 minutes to come back to life, sometimes even have to reboot the router/modem as well. I have tried the steam master server file fix which apparently should fix this problem, but obviously doesn't with me, but I have also seen that issues of his type can also be down to some routers not being able to handle rapid NAT requests, whatever they are, and it blocks them is it thinks it is under attack. Some routers allow you to disable this flood protection so I am asking here if anyone knows a specific brand/model which has this feature. Cheers. (cable and virgin media btw)

What's your current router?

you can definitely disable flood protection on the Virgin Super Hubs. Have a look on Google for how to do it.

Yes I and many others have experienced this in the earlier revisions of this game. I have a Belkin and a Draytek router and I'm pretty much forced to use the Belkin it perversely handles the large influx of server requests/traffic better without thinking its under attack.

Using the Belkin I can refresh the server browser more than once and change map at round end without issue. I confess I haven't tried the Draytek recently but using the Belkin works so its good enough for now

My Draytek has the feature to turn off flood protection but it didn't have any effect with he above.

What's your current router?

Its a Belkin Wireless G+ Mimo, pretty old about 4-5 years. The Virgin Media super hub is like £70, was hoping for less than that as there is nothing wrong with the actual cable modem I don't think, and it is only RO2 which causes these problems.

Sounds like this too is not a guaranteed solution then, even more reason not to splash out £70 on a super hub. I think I'll just live with it. It wouldn't be so bad if the game kept track of your stats/unlock progress at all times like BFBC2, rather than only at the end of a best of 3 match, as I think it does. As it stands if you crash or lose connection before the end of a complete match you lose all your hard work leveling up your rifle, very agravating.

Whats this game like, any good?

Brilliant.

Ive put 40+ hours into it since release already.

Its great when a load of us from OCUK are online and on mumble, some good laughs to be had.

The added benefit is, its from a studio that WILL work on it until its perfect!

£17 from GMG at the moment, with discount code. Buy it and get on this evening.

Yes come join the fun of my epic nades, they taste like chicken.

Yeah don't get a superhub if you don't have to.

Absolutely dire piece of kit.

No true anymore, they released the R30 firmware which allows you to use it as a modem :)

To be honest, the R30 is a solid firmware IMO. All of the games I play have no issues. Well, I usually suck ***, but I do not think that is the router - lol
