Red Orchestra (2) : Heroes of Stalingrad

How annoying.

I was playing for an hour or so earlier. No problems.

Just tired to play again and crashed 3 times in a row, within 30 seconds of joining a game. Restarted the machine, tried again and went back into server. Managed about 2 minutes then it crashed again. I have no idea why :/

Crash or you loose connection to the server. If its the second open up the console (' key next to #) and type reconnect, its a bug with the browser.

If I pre order the deluxe edition on Steam can I still get into the beta? And when does the beta end? Day before launch (next Monday)?

Confirmed also, just bought a minute ago and its downloading the beta client i think.#

Edit. first impression is good, needs a lot more teamwork though, im sure people will get the hang of it soon, cover system is a little clunky ive found, and the running seems a little odd at best, overall not too bad for a RO2.

Couple of things I'm not enjoying.

1) Doing the actual objectives is almost pointless. Nearly every map is decided by who runs out of reinforcements first.

2) As a result it's too productive to camp and not actually do anything useful. You get lots of points for capping and such, but what good is that if the enemy ends up 60 tickets ahead of you?

The combat is hilarious, especially with two riflemen running into eachother, dancing around trying to get shots off.

For anyone wanting some nice raw footage of the new maps, check this video out in HD.

hmmm doesnt make the game look very good.

Looks very awckward in movement, and your notice that the players have great difficulty just hitting targets.... or rather they are pointing in the right direction but the hit reg is terrible.

Then again its all about the team play, and if the game feels epic like your part of a bigger struggle then it could be decent.

Just seems a little clumsy.

The objectives are strategic points, once you get them you got strategic advantage. In simple terms capture objective and the ball is in your court to win.

As for hilarity of close combat, its just the beginning many people don't realize its better to switch to a pistol if you got bolt rifle when entering a house, besides in full version you get bayonets.

I'm not sure if its hit registry problems or latency, buggy servers currently. But you also should keep in mind hitting a target does not = kill the target. Heart or Head is a one shot kill, others cause bleeding which can be bandaged.

The game really is very smooth and not clumsy, video's only do so much to show you a game, you have no idea untill you get in game, the mechanics of the game are very well done.

Weapons are great, it's basically user skill.

Lol, maybe you are missing some keys and mouse buttons.

Hmmmm I'm not sure McGray, for me it's fine, what exactly is clunky and diffilcult for you?

Am glad you have given it more time, from your early posts it didn't seem likely you'd play again.

I thought I'd try the new maps. The're definitely better than the first two we had.

I just find all the movement slow and awkward. Everything from aiming to crouching to throwing grenades. I'm going to give it a proper go tonight so maybe will get the hang of it a bit more.
