On the subject of that, we had a floating MG nest gun running around the map last night, no idea who was manning it but whoever it was wasnt getting the kills recorded in the Tab menu, but was just slaughtering the whole axis side, quite funny just seeing the gun moving on its own lol.

Obviously there are a few bugs, but none make it unplayable and I have had many many hours of enjoyment out of it.

And the rate at which they are releasing patches/bug fixes is on par with Tripwires reputation. I have a lot of faith in this game and I cant wait for the full release.
 
Not true tbh, most hits on people are insta kills, or at least the target will die within about 2 seconds, especially with a bolt action rifle (obvious arm/some leg shots are not fatal and can be bandaged

wait give it a month see how it does when beta on and when bf3 is launched if it survives that with still decent amount playing thwen maybe worth getting

at moment bug ridden . gunna take at least a month to get fixed and by that time a lot will be playing bf3 beta or just left the game.

thats why i am not touching it just yet.

As was mentioned before, different crowd of people plays RO, sure there is quite a big influx of newbies coming with RO2 but there will always be players for RO series, always. I for instance don't care for BF3.

Edit: This is TW we're talking about, bugs will be fixed. There will be plenty of content, WW1 mod, Vietnam Mod, Rising Storm mod (pacific campaign). Community is devout and will always be there.

Bugs are exaggerated. I seem to be very lucky to not get any.

As for performance, make sure to turn shadows to medium, then crank everything else up and see what happens.

Done that, average 17fps now, and i have similar rigs to some of you in here :( ah well, surprising its playable like this, without msi afterburner overlay on i probably wouldnt be able to tell that much.

You said that a lethal hit is a hit to the heart or to the head, which is not true :) people die from any chest/gut shot and most upper leg shots.

Hmm you sure? Head or Heart is instant kill, others seem to be either bleeding that can not be stopped, which is slow death but the opponent can shoot you 10 times before he dies or a bleeding that can be stopped. There are a lot of hits that can be bandaged. Perhaps I did not word it right but what I mean shooting a person in the toe and expecting him to die won't happen in this game, when I see people complain "I shot him and he didn't die" I doubt it's bullet registry problems I just think they shot that guy in a place that could be bandaged and is not lethal.

Oh well that's unfortunate. It seemed to help a lot of people. I for one had problems, turning everything else down didn't seem to help. Try also putting FXAA down to low and don't forget to untick that frame-skip and smoothing. Those 2 last bottom options.

Many time's I've killed people outright and I havent received the heart or headshot icon.

Sure shooting extremities will not net you a kill unless they fail to bandage, (or you finish them off while they bandage :D) but all upper body shots are fatal, most causing an instant death, some causing a bleed out. (this is of cause assuming a rifle shot as opposed to an smg)

I've found that angle of shot seems to matter aswell, ie, if you have a high vantage point and are shooting down, say, into someones shoulder, it will do more damage as it is travelling through their shoulder and into their body.
 
How is the competitive side of this going to be? I mean the real competitive side, not jus like public server clan X vs public server clan Y. I never played RO so no idea if it caters for this sort of thing.
 
I've had a few great kills after getting shot in the guts and slowly dieing only to headshot my opponent :)

So satisfying (as far as slowly, painfully bleeding to death goes!)

Ah ive got the last 2 checked, ill try those next time i fire it up, getting a headache from looking too hard through the sniper scope lol, so dark and gloomy past 100m.
 
There's a few ladder/comps on the way plus some persistant war stuff coming. So should be something for competitive play I hope.

Really looking forward to Rising Storm and In Country, one pro mod and one near pro mod on the way, rising storm dev said next summer, can't wait to get a garand "ping".
 
I'm enjoying it, find it strange I was playing a game shooting people with my sniper, not noticing if I killed them, no real notification that I killed anyone and at the end of the round I apparently killed 6 :D

It's a good game, I'm enjoying it. Not seen so many campers in all my life but it's fun, looks great with everything maxed out apart from shadows.
 
You do get a kill message, a few seconds usually after you kill them, altho I prefer the not knowing, adds to the tension! :D

I also like that there is no hit marker so usually the only notification are the guys brains splattered on the wall behind :D

To the person talking about the sniper scope, I've gotta say I have had A LOT more success with just the standard bolt actions, been getting kills out to around 200 metres.

Aye i found that earlier, as somehow someone i stole my sniper role from the list :(, i just like the snipers role better, so ive adopted that role with my bolt actions aswell, bit more difficult getting it lined up, but you dont have the fish eye distortion and have more peripheral view without the scope.

Same, I do adopt the sniper role, maybe its the slight fps lag I get once in the scope? It's not extreme but it is noticeable, once I add a second 6870 in sli I'm sure that'll help.

Also I'm not a fan of the crosshair, I much prefer the US straight cross hair

Doesnt the sniper still have the ability use the iron site as well as the scope therefor retaining that peripheral vision but can cover more range with thescope therefor still more flexible than a bolt action without scope?
