Crashing your ship into something is generally considered to be a career stopper for a ships commanding officer, even if they're not the one in charge of the manoeuvre at the time as they are still responsible for the safe operation of their ship, so the old "the buck stops here" type stuff.

Yeah, pretty much a career ender right there. Obviously it will there will be an investigation into the cause. However my matelot buddy was saying this will have one of two likely outcomes. The the Capt will either be a desk jockey for the rest of his career or they will just resign their commission out of shame.
Pretty massive **** up, especially for capabilities that are so vital for maintaining safe navigation of such an important waterway.

It will eventually if Iran carries on or do we let them do as they wish and stop shipping?

It isn't Iran attacking shipping.

As for Ansar Allah, I don't see much reason to believe that "we" (the collective West) have any real ability to stop them attacking shipping. We can protect some number of ships, we can mildly reduce their capabilities by dropping a bunch of bombs and missiles on them, but we can't actually stop the attacks - not with any approach that is realistically viable.

Like Hamas, they are armed and supported by Iran, they are the brains and paycheck behind all this.

Bombing the rebels will achieve nothing.

They're certainly Iranian backed, but that doesn't mean we can simply elide the difference between Ansar Allah and Iran. Attacking a country simply for supplying or supporting a party to a conflict would be a very dangerous escalation in terms of international norms. Consider all the countries we supply; we would not want them deciding they can legitimately attack us on that basis.

They should have thought about before they decided to attack international shipping lanes. It's a job for team America... **** Yeah.
