Ref: AZAB...Whose is the most infamous thread on motors?

I still think "who cares" in the majority of these situations. Some of you go to such lengths to prove people wrong that it actually makes you look slightly pathetic.

Perhaps it's because I am outside of the "clique" and tend to lurk rather than posting regularly, but from the outside it seems as if there are a number of people that are so desperate for the attention they go to any lengths to make others look silly.

Each to their own I guess, if you enjoy being a detective then good luck to you. However, it could get to the stage where you call BS on everything and discourage useful posts.

But in the case of Azab, fair enough you found out he was lying. Why this was such a big achievement I have no idea, who cares if a spotty chavvy teenager claims to drive a car? I can't see why the prove him wrong at all costs attitude is required and what you gain from it.

Ho hum.....

I know, yet you are at pains to point this out every single time, so we could probably say the same of you.

If you like. You lot do seem to get a bit carried away :p

some of us must have old fashionned habits and dislike liars

in exactly the same way as we dislike people who pick their noses. No its not harming anybody ,yes it only effects them, but why should we have to put up with it ?

We do it cause it helps keep motors a more honest place, if we didn't then it would just turn into another GD except everyone would be driving around in imaginary Ferrari's to get one up on the man driving around in his imaginary M3.

What better reason than it being very, very amusing?

This. Motors is a far more tight knit place, common posters will know what everyone else drives and things like that, and a lot of people have met in real life, something that doesn't occur in GD and the like.

i liked mazza8786 (orr whatever his name is).

dodgy vectras and range rovers every week :D

Funny thing is, he never lied once! He's a personal friend of mine and has had an, 'interesting' car history haha. He's now got an ST220 and a range rover he takes to dirt/mud tracks and has a lot of fun in.

Whilst it is amusing catching out liars, it's often more amusing when people are made to eat their hats. I remember when my old man was getting his AMG, whilst it wasn't my car a lot of people were quick to question, I remember even fox asked for his company name so he could check if it was making that sort of money because he couldn't believe fish and chips to be a lucrative business:p

Who was that loud mouth who joined a few years back, had all the answers, right cocky sort with a very smug posting style? If I remember he drove a GT3 at the time, silver I think, and he posted on a lot of other forums too usually taking the micky and not taking stuff serious? Glad he's gone, he was a right tool!

....ooohhhhh ;)

i believe he received the ban stick ages ago

at least he should have ;) even if for no other reason other than being unable to buy a porsche in a proper colour :D

He wasnt a liar he was just completely and utterly clueless and did soo many bone headed things with respect to car purchases :D

Didnt Oracle or someone say that he took a test drive in a manual 535d?

(edit - why lie about a test drive!!!1112)

Oracle, Salvatore, the Human Torch, plus a few other characters were all one and the same person. That 535 manual thread was a classic. I seem to recall phoning the dealer in question to prove or disprove stock.
