Release dates for C400, Vertex 3, G3

Anyone got any release dates for these? I am desperate for a fresh Windows install and I'm currently RMAing my F3 1tb.

Plan is to get 2x64gb SSDs in RAID0 and 3xF3 1tb HDDs in RAID5.

Need to get on it sharpish though.

Not going to be looking at them then if they're only getting 250mbps read and 170mbps write...

The C400 and Vertex 3 are quoting 400-500mbps read! Pity there won't be a 64gb Vertex 3 (as far as I can tell).

They're selling point is capacity for the price, not speeds.

have been thinking about an SSD recently, but my board is only SATA 2. i take it I'll still see a significant boost? and I should also holfd off until next month with the new releases?

Have a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R board able to do Sata III 6GB/s and I want to get an SSD. Been waiting on the Vertex 3, any idea when they are released. I was sure I saw a release date of the 21st of March somewhere, yet you guys are still saying coming soon?!

The eta's I've seen for vertex 3 are from 22nd March to 1st April.

From my sluggish magnetic drives this will be quite a boost.

I've been out of the hardware loop for a couple of years but I'm after a 2.5" SSD, should I wait for one of these new ones or grab one thats currently on sale? Wasn't looking to spend anything over £150 really.

What sort of size are you looking at. For that amount of money you will struggle to get anything much bigger than 60/64gb, but another £30 will easily get you a 120gb HD.

From what I have seen and comments I have read there is not much real world difference between sata2 and sata3, both will have your applications launching instantly. The main reason I can think it may be a good idea to wait is just to see if the older drives drop in price when the new ones come out.

Currently run a 64GB Crucial M225 in my mac pro but I've just sold that to buy a new macbook pro. Only need 64GB as I have NAS for all my downloading and storage.

Are you keeping the crucial drive or selling it also? If you are selling it I would wait for the new drives and see what the prices are like and then you can decide if the extra cost is worth it for future proofing. If you are looking more short term I would just go with the cheaper older drives as they will feel just as fast.

Sold it :) I'm getting the laptop next week so I suppose I'll just go back to a standard HDD until these new SSDs come out. Hurray for slow standard hard drives!

seen the vertex 3's for sale in HK a few days ago. Price is around the same as the intels.
