Remembering dreams/waking up from dreams...

How the hell can you teach someone how to dream? :-\ You're unconcscious fgs...

Its not about how to dream, its about conditioning your sub concious to realise you are in a dream. The most common way is reality checking, and the most common reality check is holding your nose and trying to breath, obviously you can't, meaning your awake, so you tell yourself in your head your awake.

Doing enough of these awake and you start doing them in dreams, when you plug your nose in your dream and try to breath, you can (which is very strange). You then realize you are dreaming, then its like way hay lets fly, or whatever.

Thats an example how you can teach yourself, theres a lot more to it (working on dream recall) and many more methods ie MILD, DILD, WILD.

People who haven't lucid dream'd before don't believe it when you tell them you can controll dream that are as real as you sitting there now reading this, yes it really is that real, if you don't believe me read up on the site i linked if you want to learn.

when you lucid dream surely you dont have a 'normal' sleep as you brain and probably heart is over working (especially if females are always involded) If you lucid dream about girls alound is there a chance of waking up having a ham shank/had one??

I can lucid dream (I think it is). I can do anything in them. Can even stop them, wake up and then when I go back to bed later, continue them.

pretty weird stuff.

Time for your parents to give that sex ed talk about wet dreams.

They never did give me that. Anyway these lucid dreams sound quite powerful, is it possible to combine them with sleepwalking?

One of my mates said on an acid and ketamine combo he thought he was popeye and jumped out a window into a pond.

Is physical movement possible in lucid dreams or are you that aware that its happening you just stay still?

edit - My last nights dream was that i rang up and ordered double glazing people to come round and fit some new windows. I got home and they had been around but had removed the window of my bedroom and stolen everything in my room. I then tried to go to sleep but it was really cold because of the lack of window in my room (it was just a huge gap) then i was trying to shut the curtains but a wasp was stuck in them.

At this point i woke up sweating (cold) as i was moving around in bed (probably trying to kill a wasp)

Dreams are weird

@geeza - You are paralyzed during REM stage of sleep, which is when you lucid dream. I had a lot when i was trying but i've got other things on my mind.

Im pretty sure you have a normal sleep when lucid dreaming, infact it can boost your mood through out the day.

Yes they are very powerfull. I remember my first lucid dream, when i woken up from it i couldnt go back to sleep i was that amazed at the whole experience. I was hovering in my front garden watching the sun set, it was so real i was just laughing to myself thinking omg i can't believe im awake inside my dream, i could feel the heat of the sun on my neck, feel the leaves dropping down from the trees. It is a very real and powerfull experience.

@tomanders91 - Give dreamvies a read if your serious about learning, anyone can do it. Then treat yourself to a life like shower with girls aloud :p

'realizing you are dreaming may not seem all that special, but becoming aware that you are dreaming presents the opportunity of controlling dreams. The idea is that once you are aware you are dreaming you can alter your dreams and dictate what happens: you can do anything you’ve ever wanted and go anywhere you’ve ever desired'

how can you go somewhere if you have never been there in the first place?

'I cannot stress that enough—there is a real world out there, and lucid dreaming is best used both as a recreational activity and to aid in personal development; lucid dreams should not be used as a vehicle to displace reality. Seven or eight hours of sleep per night is enough—don’t sleep your life away'

so does this mean you can also control how long you sleep for? usually i just wake up when my alarm goes off or i am not tired

Your subconcious will build it going on the information you already have.

I stepped into a mirror in a lucid, obviously i've never done that before but your subconcious will do the best it can.

The second part means lucid dreaming can be great, you can fly, go to the moon, be neo or be a jedi, but its saying lucid dreaming should not replace reality so dont stay in your bed all day trying to sleep and get lucid ! When your REM stage of sleep is over, you will wake up no matter what.

I've had dreams where i've been flying and it's been absolutely crazy! Funnily enough i'd never had a dream where I was flying until a mate mentioned he had a flying dream, then about 6 months or so after I had my first flying dream, I think i'd have 3 in total. Can't quite remember whether I could control them or not though.

I want to Lucid dream! Since reading up about it i've been remembering my dreams a lot more often (like for a whole week pretty much), not written any down as of yet though...

How long did it take you from being aware of lucid dreaming to actually having your 1st one? I try to think that "I will lucid dream tonight" but I can never sleep if I concentrate too much!

Im reading that site now. I do quite a lot of REM sleeping. I wrote some of my literature review at 5am in the morning as i woke from sleep. I was thinking about how i would word it and started writing down loads of stuff in my head. Then i woke up and though i best get it down on paper to remember it.

It worked, i got a decent mark for it :)

Sounds interesting but im not going to set my alarm 4 different times in the night to record dreams during REM period of my sleep.

Id rather stick with having a nice 8 hour sleep without the alarm clock on my phone going off 4 times a night. (my phone would end up in bits after i throw it against the wall anyway if it got me up 4 times a night!)

No need to set alarms, its probably best when waking up naturally anyway. You wake up after every REM stage but rarely remember it. Just go to bed telling yourself you will remember your dreams, suprisingly works well.

yes, its great fun :)

i cant be bothered to read all that site. so

step 1 - tell self to remember dreams then write them down when i wake up
step 2 - ???
step 3 - profit!
