*** Resident Evil 2 Remake ***

They have really changed a lot in the game. For us Resident Evil 2 veterans it will feel like a new experience, as it seems more like a re-imagining. A small part of me is disappointed, as I did want the same game but with additions to it like Resident Evil Remake did, but another part of me is very happy because it will be more of a fresh experience :)

They seem to have blended RE2 with RE7. I even see some similar assets used.

They have changed other things too, like the iconic Licker scene never occurs in the same place. There are a lot more cops and we see things we never saw in the original.

From what I saw there were no type writers for saving progress, not surprised about that.

Overall happy with what I saw. Cannot wait until release :D

Oh and who was playing that game? No sense of direction/awareness and poor aiming ability to boot :p

I'd love to see a remake of CV, but it seems to be hated by a lot of Resi fans for some reason, so not sure they would consider remaking it. It's one of my favorite games that i bought a Dreamcast just to play when it was exclusive to that platform. I'm guessing a lot of the hate comes from the PS2 version that they made a lot of changes that made it look a bit too cheesy.
I played it on my brothers Dreamcast at the time. It was so great. It is certainly in my top 3-4 favourites. Not sure if 3rd or 4th now. Time to make a new list :o:p:D

1- Resident Evil 2
2- Resident Evil
3- Resident Evil: Code Veronica
4- Resident Evil 3
5- Resident Evil 0
6- Resident Evil 7
7- Resident Evil 4
8- Resident Evil 5
9- Resident Evil: Revelations
10- Resident Evil: Revelations 2
11- Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 7 could have been higher, but the story is not as gripping or memorable for me. Do not care for Ethan or any of the cast. Was refreshing as hell playing it vs Resident Evil 6 though, but anything would be after that abomination.

A lot of people loved RE4 but to me it is where Resident Evil franchise took a wrong turn and started going down hill. Great game for the time, but it should have been used as a separate IP or something imo.

That is exactly the order I would put them in TNA.

Could easy shuffle up the top 3 aswell tho,
And maybe the revelations above resi 5.

Resi 4,5 and 6 are not really resi games, 7 was more like resi of old in bits.
:D

The reason Revelations is lower is because I did not like the story as much as I did on RE5. At least RE5 had Wesker in it.

It's the pre-rendered background and fixed camera for each room that I am referring to mainly. I can understand updating and improving the controls but I was a big fan of the suspense the fixed cameras made. You enter a room and you can hear a licker but you can't see it..
Yeah. I loved pre-rendered backgrounds with fixed camera angles too. Don’t think we will ever see it again sadly.

I rate revelations 2 quite highly in the series my list would be
1- Resident Evil 2
2- Resident Evil
3- Resident Evil 3
4- Resident Evil: Code Veronica
5- Resident Evil 7
6- Resident Evil 0
7- Resident Evil: Revelations 2
8- Resident Evil 4
9- Resident Evil 5
10- Resident Evil: Revelations
11- Resident Evil 6

I need to replay that one. Only played it once. It was another one that did not feel like a Resident Evil game to me. Was not impressed by the story, I pretty much remember nothing about it. Oh and I absolutely hate the episodic crap. Will probably play Revelations 1 and 2 while waiting for RE2 Remake to come out. But I doubt my list would change much.

Yep, looks that way.

Don’t know how I missed that. Nice, good to see them. But I doubt there will be ink ribbons, unless they have a separate mode for it which would be awesome. Would not be too hard for them to do, would make a lot of people happy if they had a separate mode for the game called classic mode that was more like the original.

We are probably in the minority that would prefer it again though.
Definitely. Younger audiences would probably not like it. But to me it is a big part of what makes Resident Evil, Resident Evil.

Just added a new video to OP with eurogamer playing it for 20 minutes for those interested.

I'm tempted to get a ps1 to give RE2 another playthrough. I'm not sure it'll look very good on my 40" 1080p tv though..
I play RE2 and CV on PC :D

I do in such a way I can save when I want and never need to use a ink ribbon if I do not want to ;)

re2make I think looks very tense and suspenseful, especially with how the developers kept on saying that even one zombie can annihilate you 1 vs 1, and a horde is death.

Lighting and flashlight mechanic plus the zombies being able to follow you and break out of scenery... gameplay they showed makes me think I'll need to stock up on a few fresh briefs to swap into :D

Link please, I must have missed that interview/video :)

Just read this on PC Gamer:

Some more interesting details:

Claire and Leon have separate campaigns this time around, instead of the simpler A and B scenarios of the original.

At one point the camera zooms in on the gruesome missing jaw of a dead police officer, and man, that is some gore. If you like gross levels of detail, you're in luck with this engine.

Some other cool touches: you'll be able to pull a knife out of a zombie's body after you killed them, if it's durable enough.

You'll find some supplies like boards you can use to block off windows.

You can shoot zombies in the legs to bring them down.

Some areas in downtown Raccoon City from the original game that you could only look at—guessing that means some buildings that were previously just facades—will now be explorable, and some characters will have more fleshed-out stories than they did before.

Nice! :D

I spent way too many hours lost in that ruddy police station, I bet I will spend many more looking at this
I never felt lost in RE2, but I hope this game is so much bigger that I do :D

I will wait and get the deluxe version from GMG when they offer a 20-22% off code at some point before it gets released. I think £40 for the deluxe version would be nice. I did the same with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided :)

But truth be told if a few years ago someone said to me would you pay £100 even for a Resident Evil 2 Remake I would have said shut up and take my money, so I cannot complain :D

Check out the OP, updated it with some nice pics and a gif :D

I still think they did good with Leon, but Claire is disappointing.

I have seen more than enough to warrant a pre-order from me and I usually don’t pre-order myself. Happy to pay the asking price too if I cannot find a discount in the next 6 months before it comes out.

I would happily pay £60 if they promised to remake Resident Evil 3 and again happily pay that for a remake of Code Veronica and even again for a remake of the Resident Evil Remake :p

I was thinking, I hope they offer as either DLC or a mode you unlock by completing the game something like classic mode where you have the classic UI inventory. Anything like that where they can bring as much classic stuff as possible in a classic mode would be awesome.

I always loved the way that you could leave certain items in place for the other character in their scenario, think there was an inventory expansion and a machine gun. I remember taking both in the A scenario and really making things difficult in the B scenario on the first playthrough, I hope something like that returns.
Yea I loved that too. I always left the inventory expansion for Claire as I thought that was the much better item.

Just now I read what the Deluxe Edition has. So it is just a bunch of skins? I don’t do costumes etc so no need to order the digital deluxe version for me then. Had they done something a bit better like classic mode as I suggested earlier, I would have gladly paid for that. Still hope it is included in the base game.

The Deluxe Edition contains the main game and the Extra DLC Pack which includes the following items:

-Leon Costume: "Arklay Sheriff"
-Leon Costume: "Noir"
-Claire Costume: "Military"
-Claire Costume: "Noir"
-Claire Costume: "Elza Walker"
-Deluxe Weapon: "Samurai Edge - Albert Model"
-"Original Ver." Soundtrack Swap
